With more than 345 UK based ground engineering professionals, AtkinsRéalis' geotechnical and tunnelling reputation is built on the skills, excellence, and commitment of our people.\nYour role\nSupport winning and delivery of tunnel M&E ventilation projects.\nStrengthen and expand our presence in the UK Rail and Road sector.\nAct as a Technical Authority and client-facing engineer.\nContribute to strategic growth, bids, and industry engagement.\nProject & Technical Delivery\nLead/support the design and assessment of tunnel ventilation systems.\nCarry out 1D modelling (SES / IDA), CFD studies, risk assessment.\nDeliver fire and life safety assessments and ventilation strategies.\nSupport commissioning, testing and asset performance reviews.\nPrepare high-quality technical reports and client deliverables.\nBusiness Growth & Client Engagement\nSupport actively on growing the UK and International market.\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships in the UK rail sector.\nIdentify opportunities in rail ventilation and fire life safety projects.\nSupport bid preparation and technical proposals.\nRepresent the business in meetings, workshops, and industry events.\nInternal Capability Development\nSupport mentoring of junior engineers.\nContribute to improving processes, tools, methods, and best practice.\nCollaborate with senior leadership on growth strategy.\nAbout you\nStrong client relation with UK Rail tunnel operators.\nStrong experience in tunnel ventilation design and asset management projects.\nProven use/knowledge of SES (rail ventilation modelling), IDA Tunnel (road / metro modelling) and CFD tools (e.g. FDS, Pyrosim, Pathfinder).\nGood understanding of Fire dynamics, smoke control, and ventilation principles.\nRelevant standards (e.g. NFPA, PIARC, UK guidance).\nExperience in Project delivery across design / feasibility stages, Client interaction and coordination.\nEstablished network within UK rail organisations (e.g. Network Rail, TfL, consultants).\nDemonstrated contribution to business development or winning work.\nAbility to operate with limited supervision and support senior leadership.\nOpportunity to help shape and grow a specialist capability within a leading consultancy.\nExposure to major UK and international tunnel projects.\nPersonal Attributes\nEntrepreneurial mindset - able to identify and pursue opportunities\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills\nCollaborative but capable of leading technical discussions\nMotivated to grow a technical discipline\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
