We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Supervisor to join our Highways and Asset Services team within Buckinghamshire Highways.\nAs we continue to build on our success, we are looking to expand our established Highways team with an experienced and motivated individual who can support the safe and efficient delivery of highway projects across the county.\nThe successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing works delivered through the Buckinghamshire Highways Alliance, ensuring projects are completed safely, to specification, on programme and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with contractors, project managers, designers and other stakeholders to supervise a diverse range of schemes, including active travel improvements, carriageway and footway maintenance, drainage works and highway safety projects.\nYou will be responsible for monitoring site activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, undertaking inspections, identifying and resolving issues, and verifying completed works. Through effective site supervision and stakeholder engagement, you will help ensure the successful delivery of projects that enhance and improve the local highway network.\nWhilst we offer flexible working policies, this role requires a significant on-site presence across Buckinghamshire, supporting the delivery of highway works at various locations throughout the county.\nYour role\nThe Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of highway maintenance, improvement, and infrastructure projects across the local authority network. The role ensures that works are completed in accordance with NEC contract requirements, programme, specifications, quality standards, and statutory obligations while minimising disruption to highway users and stakeholders.\nThe successful candidate will act as a key site-based representative, liaising with contractors, subcontractors, utility companies, residents, elected members, and client representatives.\nTypical projects include Carriageway resurfacing, Footway reconstruction, Drainage improvements, Active travel schemes, Highway structures maintenance, public realm improvements, Highway safety improvement projects.\nSupervise daily highway construction and maintenance activities on-site.\nMonitor contractor performance against programme, quality and safety requirements.\nEnsure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, permits, and method statements.\nUndertake regular site inspections and audits.\nIdentify and address construction issues, risks, and non-conformances.\nVerify completed works and support handover processes. Eg. Carry out final measure and remeasure activities, compile H&S Files, as built records and completion certificates.\nSupport Project Managers in administerin NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contracts.\nMonitor contractor compliance with NEC contractual obligations.\nAssist in identifying Compensation Events and Early Warning matters.\nReview progress against Accepted Programme requirements.\nSupport assessment of contractor performance and KPI reporting.\nPromote a proactive health, safety, and wellbeing culture.\nMonitor environmental compliance and sustainability requirements.\nLiaise with residents, businesses, parish councils, elected members, and utility providers.\nRespond to site-related enquiries and complaints professionally.\nCoordinate activities with internal highway teams and external contractors.\nAttend project and progress meetings.\nMaintain site records, diaries, photographs, and inspection reports.\nVerify testing and quality documentation.\nMonitor site activities against activity schedules, project milestones and planned resources.\nAssist with measurement and verification of completed works.\nIdentify potential cost risks and efficiencies.\nSupport the validation of contractor applications and records.\nAbout you\nExperience supervising highways maintenance, improvement, or civil engineering projects.\nGood understanding of or qualification in NEC4 contracts.\nKnowledge of local authority highway operations and standards.\nUnderstanding of CDM Regulations and health and safety legislation.\nExperience managing contractors and subcontractors on live highway networks.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and programmes.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.\nCompetent user of Microsoft Office applications.\nHNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.\nCSCS Card.\nNRSWA Supervisor Accreditation.\nFull UK Driving Licence.\nFamiliarity with CEMAR contract management software.\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
