Join us in developing the highly technological oil-injected screw (OIS) compressor, the heart of our best-in-class compressor units converting mechanical energy to compressed air. The OIS is a widely used product in a large variety of applications, making it “the workhorse of the industry”.\nYou (and the project team) will define the development of products from the first prototype to serial production. You will be responsible for technology development and advancing specific knowledge domains. Product development, modelling (digital twin), simulations, testing, data processing and manufacturing are mainly done on site in Wilrijk. This means you will have hands-on experience with the products and will also work outside of a traditional desk environment.\nThe oil-injected screw product development team consists of project leaders, designers, technology engineers dedicated to the development on state-of-the-art compressor elements.\nAtlas Copco has a strong focus on sustainability where you will have many learning possibilities and get the chance to work on making more efficient and sustainable products in a high impact industry sector.\nYour responsibilities will be:\nExtensive research, simulations, calculations and modelling on components or subsystems of compressors.\nIdentify key decisions and devise/execute a test plan to answer knowledge gaps.\nEnsure the implementation of new concepts as part of new product development projects.\nAcquire the relevant knowledge from internal and external stakeholders\nFollow up the technology evolution for specific compressor types and subsystems.\nTo succeed, you will need\nYou have a Master of Engineering Science or Master of Science or equivalent by experience. Having acquired a PhD in this domain is an advantage.\nYou have a strong technical background, preferably in engineering, supported by excellent analytical skills to solve complex technical problems.\nMatlab (or similar like Python) knowledge is preferred.\nAble to interpret FEA/CFD results. Experience in numerical simulations is a plus.\nBroad knowledge of mechanical engineering, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. You can work on multi-disciplinary problems, dive deep into the details of a problem, while keeping an overview of the bigger picture.\nExperience in oil-injected screw compressors or compressors in general is a plus but not required.\nExperience as project member or leader in product development projects is a plus.\nYou can work in an international environment.\nGood communication skills and English proficiency are required, communication skills in Dutch are a plus.\nIn return, we offer you\nAt Atlas Copco Group you will join an international and diverse environment with specialists from different disciplines.
