The SRE team owns the infrastructure, tooling and automation that Jira and Confluence Cloud runs on, and has a deep understanding of how Atlassian products leverage cloud infrastructure to meet customer reliability expectations.\nThe ideal candidate is a technical leader who is aware of current industry trends (particularly those related to reliability). You have experience mentoring and growing team members and love to share your knowledge with others. We'd love it if you brought a deep understanding of modern Cloud infrastructure, programming expertise, operational experience and a desire to change the status quo. We're looking for an engineer who can analyse and help improve our services and processes to get us to an even higher level of reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. You will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager.\nResponsibilities\n5+ years experience operating high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed software in production: building monitoring, tweaking dashboards, defining alerts, writing runbooks, etc.\n\n5+ years of hands on experience with public cloud offerings (at least 1 year experience on GCP).\n\nFamiliarity with Unix / Linux operating systems.\n\nStrong emphasis to debug, improve code, and automate routine tasks.\n\nStrong backend engineering experience in one or more prominent languages such as Java, Go or Python.\n\nExcellent communication skills in written and verbal forms, and an ability to communicate complex technical issues to a range of technical and non-technical audiences (management, peers, clients).\n\nAn ability and desire to mentor and coach engineers\n\nQualifications\nIt would be great, but not mandatory if you had:\nExperience in datastores (RDBMS, time-series-database, NoSql, search, analytics).\n\nExperience in microservice architecture.\n\nExperience building web-services and clients using REST/GraphQL.\n\nExpertise in JVM, Garbage Collection, and Performance Tuning.\n\nBenefits & Perks\nAtlassian offers a wide range of perks and benefits designed to support you, your family and to help you engage with your local community.
