Co-op roles are typically project based and the student will gain a broad range of experiences and will grow as both a person and a professional.\n Start Date: Spring 2027 (Jan.) or Summer 2027 (May/June)\nLocation: Stoughton, WI\nLength of Role: 8 month minimum, 9-12 months, highly preferred. \nEducation: BS or MS in: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science/Electrical Engineering\n The Student Engineering Co-op will gain knowledge and support experienced engineering staff in one or more of the following areas:\nProduct Design / Development / Validation - New Product Development, Current Product Support or Validation/Verification planning for filtration & separation systems.\nTest Engineering - Development of new laboratory equipment, procedures, and test methods.\nReliability - Product Development Risk Assessment & Failure Analysis\nScope:\nDesign, specify, implement, validate, and support laboratory test systems, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems, to enable reliable engineering evaluation and product development. \nKey Responsibilities:\nProblem Solving & Resolution: Investigate and resolve test system and process problems; identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and document results.\nProcess & Tool Application: Apply and improve engineering processes and tools, including test system specifications, design, validation, FMEA, 7-step problem solving, and process hazard analysis.\nCross-Functional Collaboration: Work with lab customers, technicians, engineers, and suppliers to define test system requirements, processes, and instructions while making informed decisions on component selection, calibration, accuracy, reliability, and operating costs.\n Technical Ownership & Growth: Independently manage moderately complex technical work, contribute to team goals, and continuously expand technical and product knowledge.\n To be successful in this role you will need experience in or willingness to learn the following:\nStrong decision-making, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills, with a commitment to continuous self-development and driving results.\nExperience or knowledge in laboratory equipment safety, measurement science, data quality, product functional testing, and test system design.\nMethodical and data-driven approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.\nAbility to follow HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and Technical Function Standards/Practices.\nDegree Programs Considered: Bachelor’s or Master’s\nMajor Programs Typically Considered: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science/Electrical Engineering\nCo-Op program criteria:\nMust be a currently enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.\nMinimum 2.5 or above GPA preferred.\nMust be able to complete a minimum of 8 months, 9-12 months, highly preferred. \nMust be able to complete 40 hours per week.
