This platform enables new classes of micromachines to be designed and built by providing manufacturing processes and a materials library that are inaccessible to semiconductor manufacturing methods. It unlocks MEMS manufacturing not only for device classes that could never be produced by semiconductor methods, but also for entirely new categories. Furthermore, this digital platform is fully programmable in the way 3D printing is digital-but whereas 3D printing produces parts of a single material using a single process, the Matter Compiler™ technology platform is a multi-process, multi-material system: bits and raw materials go in, and complete, functional micromachines come out. The Atomic Machines team has also created an exciting first device-made possible only through the Matter Compiler™ technology platform-that we will be unveiling to the world soon.\nOur offices are in Emeryville and Santa Clara, California.\nAbout the Role\nWe are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role contributes directly to operational excellence as we scale into high-volume manufacturing environments - optimizing processes, improving equipment performance, and supporting the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing equipment.\nThe ideal candidate is a builder who applies continuous improvement methodologies and can own a well-defined project from concept through implementation into production. As a contributor to our manufacturing operations, you will work with cross-functional teams to help integrate new equipment and processes into the production line while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and safety.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn the performance, reliability, and day-to-day sustaining of assigned manufacturing equipment and stations (manual through semi-automated).\nSupport preventive and predictive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.\nSupport manufacturing process development from EVT through DVT and into production ramp on assigned stations/nodes.\nTranslate engineering BOMs (eBOM) into manufacturing BOMs (mBOM) for assigned assemblies.\nIdentify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and quality risks on equipment using data-driven methods; drive improvements in throughput, yield, and cost at the station level.\nPerform root cause and corrective action (RCCA), time studies, and risk assessments to resolve production issues and prevent recurrence.\nGenerate and refine manufacturing standards, including SOPs, work instructions, and training materials, ensuring consistency and process discipline.\nPartner cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to validate system performance and establish effective, reliable acceptance testing.\nSupport contract manufacturers' builds through final integration and test to consistently deliver conformant hardware to production.\nApply DFM/DFX principles and provide feedback to design engineering on assigned equipment and assemblies.\nSupport equipment deployment, including installation, validation, and commissioning, ensuring production readiness.\nMonitor process and equipment performance, using metrics and data to drive continuous improvement.\nOwn project deliverables with minimum guidance, escalating appropriately when scope is ambiguous.\nTravel between Emeryville and Santa Clara sites as needed.\nWhat You'll Need\n3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with exposure to automation and equipment design.\nExperience supporting or implementing automated systems in a production environment (robotics is a plus).\nExperience in semiconductor, solar, Biotech, EV, or similar high-tech industries, with an understanding of their processes.\nProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Onshape) for equipment design.\nHands-on experience with manufacturing/production processes, from assembly drawing through to running hardware.\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes, such as machining, assembly, welding, or material handling.\nFamiliarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.\nKnowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (Arena software a plus).\nExperience with document control and release processes.\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.\nGood communication and collaboration abilities.\nAbility to manage a project with minimum guidance and prioritize tasks effectively.\nA first-principles mindset - you question assumptions and approach problems with a foundational understanding rather than relying solely on precedent.\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.\nBonus Points For\nKnowledge of basic coding: RSLogix, Ignition, Python, or C/C++.\nThe compensation for this position also includes equity and benefits.\nSalary Range\n$150,000—$180,000 USD","description_format":"text","description_chars":4908,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-07T18:32:45Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 6","filings_12m":6,"filings_prev_12m":3,"green_card_filings_12m":0,"median_offered_wage_usd":162500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-03T21:08:04+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":2,"expected_fill_days":139,"reasons":["conf:2","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-10T05:45:15Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":180000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/atomic-machines-manufacturing-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/atomic-machines-manufacturing-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-11T02:49:05Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4519,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":481,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-12T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":668955},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=668955"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fatomic-machines-manufacturing-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fatomic-machines-manufacturing-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fatomic-machines-manufacturing-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/atomic-machines-manufacturing-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fatomic-machines-manufacturing-engineer"}]}
