This is a highly visible, customer-facing operational role supporting advanced HPC infrastructures in the UK.\nYou will work across computing, storage, and networking layers, ensuring the deployment, stability, and performance of large-scale Linux-based systems. While prior HPC experience is an advantage, it is not mandatory - strong Linux and infrastructure engineers eager to grow into HPC & AI are encouraged to apply.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDeployment & System Bring-Up\nInstall, configure, and integrate HPC cluster components (compute, storage, networking).\nPerform system installation, initial configuration, and operational readiness checks.\nApply patches, updates, and conduct routine maintenance activities.\nHybrid Hardware & Software Support\nProvide Level 1 and Level 2 operational support for HPC environments.\nDiagnose and resolve issues involving:\nLinux operating systems\nEnterprise server hardware\nHigh-speed interconnects\nStorage subsystems\nConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.\nEscalate appropriately within the global support organisation when needed.\nOperations & Incident Handling\nMonitor system health and respond to incidents proactively.\nPerform troubleshooting in secure, mission-critical environments.\nMaintain detailed and accurate documentation of incidents and resolutions.\nCustomer Interface\nAct as the primary technical contact on-site.\nCommunicate effectively regarding incidents, planned maintenance, and system status.\nBuild trusted relationships with customer technical stakeholders.\nRepresent Bull professionally in sensitive and high-profile environments.\nCore Technical Skills\nWhat you must know to perform the role successfully:\nStrong Linux expertise (RedHat and/or Debian-based environments)\nSolid understanding of enterprise server hardware (CPU, memory, storage, diagnostics)\nScripting skills in Bash and/or Python\nStrong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, security basics)\nHands-on experience with infrastructure deployment, configuration, and maintenance\nExcellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities\nProactive mindset and ability to work independently\nDesirable Skills & Experience\nValuable, but not mandatory:\nExperience with HPC clusters\nHigh-speed networking (40/100GbE, InfiniBand)\nVirtualisation technologies (KVM, OpenStack)\nStorage systems (Ceph, SAN/NAS)\nParallel filesystems (Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS)\nContainers (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)\nConfiguration management (Ansible, Puppet)\nMonitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Icinga)\nWorkload managers (Slurm, PBS Pro)\nGit version control\nCandidate Profile\nWe are looking for someone who:\nIs hands-on, operationally focused, and detail oriented\nThrives in secure, mission-critical environments\nApproaches troubleshooting methodically, even under pressure\nCommunicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders\nTakes full ownership of incidents through to resolution\nIs motivated to learn continuously and expand their technical expertise\nEducation & Experience\nOption 1:\nDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field + at least 2 years of relevant experience\nOption 2:\n5+ years of relevant industry experience\nStrong early-career candidates with solid technical foundations will also be considered.\nBenefits:\nWorking on advanced HPC and digital infrastructure projects\nContinuous learning and technical skill development\nCareer growth within a global technology organisation\nParticipation in internal initiatives and community-focused activities.\n#Bull\nJoin us!\nHere, your ideas, your curiosity and your technical excellence directly shape the next era of advanced computing -
