This role serves as the senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues that cannot be resolved by L1 or L2 support teams.\nThis is a hands-on technical role responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving highly available infrastructure. The engineer will work across servers, virtualization, networking, storage, security, monitoring, and application dependencies to resolve issues and maintain reliable NG911 services.\nKey Responsibilities\nInfrastructure Support & Troubleshooting\nServe as the L3 escalation point for complex Windows, Linux, VMware, and infrastructure-related issues.\nDiagnose problems across operating systems, virtualization, storage, networking, security, monitoring, databases, and application dependencies.\nRestore services during infrastructure incidents and support Major Incident Management activities.\nPerform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.\nWork closely with NOC, Network Engineering, Application Support, Security, Cloud Operations, Service Delivery, and third-party vendors.\nWindows & Linux Administration\nAdminister, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux systems supporting NG911 services.\nTroubleshoot system services, logs, authentication, permissions, networking, storage, performance, and resource issues.\nSupport server provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance, and retirement.\nSupport Active Directory-integrated systems and authentication dependencies.\nWork with application teams to troubleshoot issues that cross infrastructure and application layers.\nVMware Virtualization\nAdminister and troubleshoot VMware vSphere and vCenter environments.\nSupport VM provisioning, configuration, maintenance, migration, capacity management, and lifecycle activities.\nTroubleshoot performance and availability issues involving virtual machines, VMware infrastructure, networking, and storage.\nCoordinate complex VMware issues with vendor support when necessary.\nNG911 Infrastructure Support\nDevelop a strong understanding of the Atos Public Safety NG911 infrastructure and its application dependencies.\nSupport production, non-production, laboratory, reference, and interoperability environments.\nIdentify whether service issues originate from infrastructure, applications, networking, security, or external dependencies.\nMaintain technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and knowledge articles for support teams.\nInfrastructure Onboarding & Operations\nSupport onboarding and provisioning of physical and virtual servers.\nEnsure systems meet configuration, security, access, monitoring, logging, backup, and documentation requirements.\nSupport CyberArk onboarding and privileged-access integration.\nValidate infrastructure readiness before systems are moved into production.\nProvide operational documentation and technical handoffs to NOC and support teams.\nIncident, Problem & Change Management\nProvide L3 support for infrastructure incidents and service-impacting events.\nPerform structured troubleshooting using system logs, events, monitoring data, and configuration information.\nIdentify recurring problems and contribute to Problem Management and corrective-action activities.\nPlan and execute approved production changes, including testing, validation, rollback procedures, and risk assessment.\nMaintain accurate technical records within IT service management and documentation systems.\nMonitoring, Performance & Reliability\nReview infrastructure alerts, system logs, VMware events, and performance data.\nIdentify capacity, performance, configuration, and resource issues before they impact service.\nSupport health checks, preventive maintenance, backup and recovery validation, and resilience improvements.\nRecommend improvements to infrastructure reliability, performance, security, monitoring, capacity, and recoverability.\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of experience supporting enterprise server and virtualization environments, including senior or L3-level support.\nAdvanced administration and troubleshooting experience with Microsoft Windows Server.\nAdvanced administration and troubleshooting experience with Linux.\nStrong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and vCenter.\nAbility to troubleshoot complex issues across operating systems, virtualization, applications, storage, networking, and security.\nStrong knowledge of:TCP/IP and DNS\nAuthentication and server networking\nStorage and virtualization\nHigh availability\nBackup and recovery\nMonitoring and logging\n\nExperience supporting high-availability or mission-critical production environments.\nExperience with formal Incident, Problem, Change, and Major Incident Management processes.\nStrong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.\nAbility to independently manage complex technical issues and communicate effectively with technical teams, leadership, and vendors.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting Atos Public Safety NG911 infrastructure or applications.\nExperience with NG911, public safety, emergency communications, telecommunications, or other mission-critical environments.\nExperience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES).\nExperience with CyberArk or another privileged-access-management platform.\nExperience with monitoring, logging, patching, vulnerability management, configuration management, backup/recovery, or automation.\nExperience supporting geographically distributed, highly available, or hybrid infrastructure.\nExperience working with OEM and third-party technical support organizations.\nVMware, Microsoft, Linux, cloud, complex technical issues, reducing recurring problems, executing production changes safely, maintaining strong technical documentation, and collaborating effectively across technical and operational teams.\nRole Distinction\nThis is more than a traditional server administrator position. The L3 Infrastructure Engineer must understand how Windows, Linux, VMware, networking, storage, security, CyberArk, monitoring, databases, and NG911 applications work together.\nThe engineer is expected to take ownership of complex infrastructure issues through resolution and help improve the long-term reliability and supportability of the NG911 environment.\nThe total compensation range for this role in the posted location is $64,366.00 - $102,986.00USD.\nAtos provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws.
