This role blends infrastructure engineering\n(approximately 75%) with hands-on security operations (approximately\n25%). The Platform Engineer will be responsible for maintaining,\ntroubleshooting, and optimizing Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure,\nand line-of-business systems while also supporting security incident\nresponse, email threat analysis, endpoint protection, and identity\nsecurity. This position requires a professional who can operate\nconfidently in production environments, manage client communications,\nand make sound technical decisions under pressure.\nResponsibilities (include but are not limited to):\nInfrastructure & Application Support:\n- Serve as the escalation point for complex infrastructure and\napplication issues across multi-tenant environments.\n- Triage and optimize monitoring and alerting systems to reduce noise\nand prevent incidents.\n- Diagnose and restore line-of-business applications, including payroll,\nHR, accounting, and public safety systems.\n- Manage Windows Server environments including services, storage,\npermissions, and diagnostics.\n- Perform SQL Server operator-level administration and health checks.\n- Manage endpoints, virtual desktop environments, and mobile device\nmanagement policies.\n- Lead change management processes including patching, deployments, and\nvalidation.\n- Maintain accurate ticketing and coordinate high-priority incidents and\nvendor escalations.\nMicrosoft 365 & Identity:\n- Administer Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online environments.\n- Manage identity lifecycle across Active Directory and Entra ID.\n- Configure and troubleshoot email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM,\nDMARC) and DNS records.\n- Administer firewall and VPN solutions, including FortiGate systems.\nSecurity Operations:\n- Triage and investigate phishing emails and user-reported threats.\n- Analyze DMARC reports and recommend policy improvements.\n- Configure and maintain Microsoft Defender for Office 365 protections.\n- Administer application control tools such as ThreatLocker.\n- Perform identity security tasks including MFA resets and session\nrevocation.\n- Coordinate with MDR/SOC providers to respond to alerts and incidents.\n- Investigate suspicious sign-ins and audit logs within Entra ID.\n- Execute rapid response actions such as IP or domain blocking during\nthreats.\nRequirements:\n- 5+ years of experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment\nin a senior or Level 3 role.\n- Candidates need hands-on production experience with M365 administration, Entra, Intune, Conditional Access, and Azure\n- Strong expertise in Windows Server administration, including Group\nPolicy and Hyper-V.\n- Proven experience with Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online\nadministration.\n- Proficiency in Active Directory and Entra ID identity management.\n- Experience with email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).\n- Firewall and VPN administration experience (FortiGate preferred).\n- Experience with RMM tools such as Datto RMM or NinjaOne.\n- Hands-on experience with phishing triage and security incident\nresponse.\n- Familiarity with endpoint application control platforms such as\nThreatLocker.\n- Experience working with MDR/SOC providers.\n- SQL Server operator-level knowledge.\n- PowerShell scripting experience.\n- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple environments under change\ncontrol.\n- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.\nDesired Qualifications:\n+ Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).\n+ Familiarity with SIEM platforms such as Todyl, Adlumin, or Azure Log\nAnalytics.\n+ Experience with Azure infrastructure including VMs, AVD, and\nnetworking.\n+ Experience supporting payroll, HR, or financial applications.\n+ Familiarity with vulnerability management tools such as Tenable.io.\n+ Experience administering security awareness platforms.\n+ Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as CIS and SOC 2.\n+ Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Government (GCC High).\n+ Relevant Microsoft security certifications (SC-900, MS-500,
