Delivering such robust, personalized, and preventive health care is complex and requires a team-wide dedication to excellence.\nAfter successfully opening our flagship Institute in New York in 2022 and expanding to South Florida in 2024, we are now bringing the Atria experience to the West Coast with the launch of our Los Angeles Institute in late spring 2026.\nAtria Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for our Foundations team, working across Platform, DevOps, and Data Engineering.\nThis is a senior individual contributor role responsible for leading the technical direction of our platform, with a focus on EMR integrations (particularly Athena), systems infrastructure, caching strategies, and robust internal tooling and support for our domain product teams (Clinical Experience, Member Experience, and Care Delivery). You'll own the design and implementation of core platform services while acting as a force multiplier for engineering across the organization.\nYou'll partner closely with engineers and clinical leaders to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical strategies, ensure architectural consistency across teams, and take end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-team initiatives from idea to launch. From defining solutions to ensuring strong monitoring and clean analytics in Mixpanel, you'll care deeply about both how we build and what we achieve.\nTech Stack\nLanguages: TypeScript\nBackend: Node.js, Express\nFrontend: React, Honeypot SDK\nInfrastructure: Google Cloud Platform, Terraform\nDatabases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis\nIntegrations: Athena EMR, wearable platforms, third-party healthcare APIs\nTooling: GitHub, Sentry, Okta, Mixpanel, Omni\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Leadership & Architecture\nPartner with the Sr. Director, Foundations to define and drive the technical vision and direction for the Foundations group.\nLead architecture decisions for integration patterns, caching infrastructure, and shared services, and design the APIs, data models, and integration patterns that let teams build new clinical and member experiences without reinventing the wheel.\nServe as a technical escalation point for complex platform challenges, and conduct design reviews to ensure services meet reliability, performance, and security standards.\nRaise the bar on reliability and performance by driving SLOs, capacity planning, and incident-ready designs for the systems you own.\nPersonally execute on the highest-priority and most technically challenging projects, and own end-to-end delivery for complex initiatives that cut across multiple product teams and services.\nApplication Performance\nDesign and implement strategies that improve application performance and reduce external API dependencies.\nBuild and maintain caching infrastructure with appropriate invalidation patterns.\nMonitor and optimize platform performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements.\nEstablish best practices and patterns for product teams to adopt.\nPlatform & Product Team Enablement\nAct as a partner to product engineering teams, understanding their needs and providing platform solutions that accelerate development.\nBuild and maintain shared libraries, SDKs, and internal APIs that improve developer productivity.\nCreate documentation, examples, and guidelines for consuming platform services.\nProvide technical guidance and support during product team integration efforts.\nQuality, Observability & Analytics\nEmbed testability in designs: meaningful unit and functional tests, contract tests between services, and automated checks where they matter most.\nEnsure new features are instrumented with high-quality analytics in Mixpanel, with events and properties that stay consistent across products.\nWork with Product and Data to set up dashboards and monitoring that reflect real user and clinical outcomes, not just vanity metrics.\nDrive post-incident reviews and systemic improvements when things break.\nMentorship & Culture\nMentor senior and mid-level engineers through design guidance, pairing, and thoughtful code review.\nHelp define and uphold engineering standards: coding conventions, architecture patterns, and documentation norms.\nModel a pragmatic, product-focused mindset that balances high standards with iterative delivery and experimentation.\nCompensation: $200,000 - $280,000 (based on location)\nRequirements\nCore Experience\n~8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time as a senior/staff IC building product experiences in production.\nA track record of owning and shipping multi-team projects in modern web stacks.\nExperience working closely with product and design on user-facing features.\nComfortable leading technical decisions in ambiguous domains and defending those decisions with clear tradeoffs.\nTechnical Skills\nStrong full-stack skills: you can design an API and data model, build the UI that consumes it, and wire up monitoring and metrics.\nDeep familiarity with at least one cloud provider and infrastructure-as-code.\nStrong instincts around systems design: reliability, performance, security, and cost all feature in your thinking.\nExcellent debugging and incident-response skills; you're comfortable digging into logs, traces, and data to understand issues.\nLeadership & Collaboration\nProven ability to lead through influence: aligning multiple teams and partners on technical direction without needing direct authority.\nComfort working in a highly cross-functional environment with clinicians, operations, and research in the loop.\nClear written and verbal communication;
