Combined with our broad product portfolio, financial strength and global presence, we provide our customers with the best automation solutions wherever and whenever they need them.\nCompensation & Benefits\n Pay Rate: $124,000 - $170,500\nEligible for Annual Incentive Bonus\nStock Purchase Plan\n3 Weeks Vacation\nHealth Care Benefits + $600 Health Care Spending Account\nEmployee Engagement Events (Employee BBQ’s and lunches, weekly treat day, etc.)\nEmployee Development Programs\nSpecific Responsibilities\nAssess workload, update, and forecast labor loading, assign staff to engineering projects and oversee the completion of drawings according to specific deadlines and project schedules.\nReview project schedules and ensure detailed design plans match schedule and budget requirements on a timely basis to ensure the mechanical automation engineering portion of projects are completed on time and take corrective action, coordinating with other departments as required.\nProvide engineering expertise for projects progressing through the manufacturing and system installation stages to overcome and correct problems and technical difficulties.\nCritique and approve all respective design work under their charge.\nConduct/oversee employee performance evaluations recommend salary adjustments, and initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures for staff reporting to him/her.\nEncourage and mentor direct employees to ensure that departmental morale and efficiency are maintained at the highest level. Conduct regular 1:1 with Group leads and direct reports\nSupport employee training by analyzing needs on an annual basis using the training matrix\nBased on business goals and annual growth, establish resource requirements skills and organizational needs that will sustain adequate capacity and leadership within the department.\nCoach team members on ABM processes, A3s, RCAs, cost benefit analysis, process development\nLead regular team meetings\nPrioritize resources to ensure all work is achieved. Work closely with Engineering Group Leads to ensure resources are properly deployed.\nDeploy Visual Management tools for Engineering Team (i.e., Control Board)\nDevelop & deploy Team KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Cost, and Employee Engagement)\nMeasure departmental KPI results and rework and develop improvement plans where required.\nSet objectives on a yearly basis that align with business unit objectives and track progress throughout the year on those objectives.\nProvide engineering expertise for projects progressing through the manufacturing and system installation stages to overcome and correct problems and technical difficulties.\nProvide technical support to the Applications and Sales departments when quoting new business.\nInterview and select applicants on their technical qualifications and suitability for positions in the department when hiring new personnel.\nSupport the business unit quality system by maintaining quality procedures, job descriptions, and responding to NCR’s and CAR’s.\nMeasure departmental throughput and rework and develop improvement plans where required.\nSupport employee training and development by assessing specific employee needs on an annual basis minimally.\nWith the Director, collaborate on developing a departmental budget on an annual basis.\nDevelop outside contractors in anticipation of overload situations.\nMaintain a co-operative working relationship with your counterparts in other ATS business units\nAdvocate and foster a team environment within both the department and throughout the business unit.\nHold departmental communications meetings on a regular basis (minimum once per quarter).\nEmphasize continuous improvement as a long-term goal and implement procedures and programs to achieve continuous improvement in this area.\nRecommend and enforce design and engineering procedures and standard practices to comply with industry specific regulatory requirements.\nEnsure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.\nAdhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.\nNuclear Energy Solutions Specific:\nWork collaboratively with the Chief Engineer and peer engineering managers to maintain technical excellence, consistency of engineering methods, standards, and practices across the Nuclear business. Support the Chief Engineer's technical governance and oversight responsibilities by aligning departmental activities, engineering deliverables, and design approaches with established engineering standards, best practices, and organizational technical direction.\nResponsible for providing oversight and support to all design activities related to construction of CSA B51 and CSA N285.0 pressure boundary components within the ATS Certificate of Authorization.\nStrictly follow CSA N299, B51, N285 and ASME NQA-1 Quality requirements as defined within the ATS Quality manual and procedures.\nQualifications\nEducation:\nA post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Technologist or equivalent.\nExperience:\nMinimum 8 - 10 years of experience in automated tooling and equipment design, development and testing.\n2 or more years with demonstrated experience in a leadership or management role.\nDemonstrated understanding of the systems design process, mechanics/mechatronics, robotics, vision systems, machine controls, structured problem solving, DOE, common manufacturing principles, superior drafting skills, practical GD&T application, precision engineering principles is preferred.
