Together, employees create impact through teamwork, trust, and a shared commitment to excellence.\nThe Role\nFiber Tech II - Splicing Technicians install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable in support of construction, operations, maintenance, and emergency restoration across our fiber networks.\nWork Location:\n 1890 Gervais CT Maplewood MN 55109\n The Main Responsibilities\n· Install, splice (single-fiber, multi-fiber, and ribbon), and test fiber optic cable for construction projects, which may include maintenance, and emergency restoration\n· Troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults using tools such as OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier, scope, and fault finder; save and send test files and documentation\n· Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures (aerial, buried, handholes, and manholes), including mid-span/mid-sheath splices across multiple cable types\n· Perform dark fiber, reel, and continuity testing; complete routine repairs to restore service and maintainroute integrity\n· Place and test jumpers in communication cabinets and perform fiber panel/case audits\n· Complete aerial and underground work as required(e.g., re-lashing/attaching cable, manholework with gas detection/ventilation, pit workand shoring activities)\n· Read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, design maps, diagrams/schematics, permits or any other documents and/or work orders to complete work accurately\n· Ability to read and/or create As-Builts\n· Coordinate with construction crews, contractors, Business Partners, and Network/Construction Engineering to resolve outages and meet project schedules; provide detailed field splicing reports when required\n· Use company-assigned electronic devices for work orders, diagnostics, documentation, and communication\n· Follow all quality and safety requirements, including applicable OSHA and other regulatory/company policies\n· Perform all work according to quality control guidelines, regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, NESC), and company procedures and standards\n· Ability to perform or learn the skill for Optical Line Terminal (OLT) work, including test and turnup, troubleshooting and repairs for Remote Terminal / Central Office (RT/CO) facilities\nWhat We Look Forin a Candidate\nForged Fiber’s culture is built on honesty, respect, trust, transparency, and a growth mindset. We’relooking for top tier talent to join Forged Fiber that can help us bring this mindset to our everyday work and deliver meaningful results.\nMain Requirements\nRequired Qualifications\n· High school diploma or equivalent\n· Valid state driver’s license and ability to maintaina satisfactory driving record; ability to drive company vehicles safely\n· 2+ years of relevant fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant or related experience (or equivalent training/experience)\n· Working knowledge of hand and power tools; proficiencywith fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope\n· Ability to read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, design maps, diagrams/schematics, permits or any other documents and/or work orders; strong attention to detail and documentation skills\n· Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, and multiple agencies\n· Basic computer skills (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word) and ability to use electronic devices for field documentation and work orders\n· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work effectively\n· Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and varied terrain\n· Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., manholes, handholes, splice pits, crawl spaces/attics as applicable) with required safety practices (e.g., gas detection/ventilation)\n· Ability to climb and work at elevations exceeding 18 feet (ladders/poles) while following safety and equipment requirements\n· Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing/walking for extended periods and routinely lifting upto 75 lbs\n· Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, standby rotation, and accept call-outsas needed\n· Successful completion of applicable employment assessments/interviews and requiredbackground screening consistent with law\nPreferred Qualifications\n· Prior experience performing single-fiber, multi-fiber, and ribbon splicing\n· Prior experience working with outside plant (OSP) construction and restoration activities\n· Experience auditing splice cases/panels and identifyingquality issues or inconsistencies\n· Basic coursework or certification in fiber cable splicing/maintenance\n· DOT certification (if required by assignment)\n· Ability to tow a trailer or willingness to acquirethis skill\nSchedule, Travel & On-Call\nFull-time; typical 8-hour shifts generally fallbetween 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.; actual start/end times vary by assignment\nMandatory overtime may be requiredand may include weekends and holidays\nMay occasionally be assigned to work out of town for varying lengths of time\nCompensation\nThis information reflects the anticipatedbase salary range for this position based on current national data.
