Test Engineer position defines, documents, executes, and interprets tests for applications, systems, components, and modifications. Working independently and collaboratively on moderately complex project activities, the engineer identifies functional problems, recommends solutions, and improves testing, reliability, and quality practices for platform modernization.\nQualifications and Education Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.\n3-5 years of related experience in test engineering, software or systems testing, or quality assurance; additional relevant experience is welcome.\nDHS Trusted Tester Certification required.\nExperience defining test criteria and developing, executing, and analyzing test plans, test cases, scripts, and results for software and integrated systems.\nExperience with functional, integration, regression, performance, and reliability testing across the development lifecycle.\nAbility to identify functional problems, document reproducible defects, analyze results, and recommend product or design changes.\nExperience using test management, defect tracking, and automated testing tools and maintaining requirements-to-test traceability.\nAbility to define quality control standards and maintain reliability programs using measurable test coverage, defect, and performance indicators.\nWorking knowledge of agile delivery and testing cloud applications, APIs, data integrations, and legacy system modernization.\nFamiliarity with DHS cybersecurity testing procedures, applicable industry standards, and Section 508 accessibility testing.\nSuperior analytical, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaborate with engineering groups, vendors, and stakeholders.\nMust be a US citizen, able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust Clearance.\nExperience with Federal or DHS/CISA systems, developmental and operational testing, and modeling or simulation is preferred.\nJob Duties:\nThe Test Engineer II evaluates technical performance, operational effectiveness, and system quality throughout the application and system lifecycle. Responsibilities include:\nCoordinate with engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, components, and modifications.\nDevelop test criteria based on operational requirements and key performance parameters; maintain traceability to requirements and acceptance criteria.\nCreate and maintain test plans, cases, scripts, test data, and expected results to verify system integrity, functionality, and security.\nPerform functional, integration, regression, performance, and reliability testing; evaluate interfaces, APIs, cloud services, and enterprise integrations.\nConduct developmental and operational testing in accordance with DHS Instruction Guide 026-06-001-01 and applicable cybersecurity testing procedures.\nIdentify functional problems, document defects and supporting evidence, suggest resolutions, and verify corrective actions through retesting.\nAnalyze test cases and results; provide feedback and recommendations for product, application, or design changes and Government acceptance.\nDefine internal quality control standards and maintain reliability programs; track test coverage, defect trends, and performance against approved criteria.\nEnsure testing procedures meet applicable Federal, DHS/CISA, and industry-specific standards; coordinate security and accessibility testing with specialists.\nValidate migration, data integrity, rollback procedures, and operational continuity during transition from legacy to modernized systems.\nUse modeling and simulation, where appropriate, to evaluate system behavior, performance, and operational effectiveness.\nCollaborate with developers, architects, data engineers, and operations teams during design reviews and agile delivery; improve testing and quality practices.\nCoordinate with vendors or suppliers, as needed, to develop or modify tests for components and integrated services.\nMaintain test documentation, results, and release readiness evidence; communicate risks and recommendations while protecting sensitive information, including Protected Critical Infrastructure Information (PCII).\nNon-Essential Functions:\nOther related duties as assigned.\nAbout Us\nAttainX, Inc. delivers technology solutions, software products, and professional services to Federal Government customers.
