  • Provide technical support to plant operations and maintenance teams by interpreting inspection results, field-test data, operating trends, and control-system information to troubleshoot equipment issues, identify degradation, and recommend corrective action;
  • Lead investigative assessments and root-cause analyses, develop testing plans, and track corrective actions, lessons learned, and fleet-wide applicability through closure;
  • Exercise independent technical judgment, draw conclusions, make decisions, and communicate recommendations to management and affected parties in a way that builds consensus and supports timely outcomes.
  • Develop engineered solutions and support capital projects by defining scope and technical specifications, evaluating alternatives and vendor proposals, and administering technical deliverables through completion and closeout, engaging internal or external expertise as required;
  • Review engineering design documentation from equipment manufacturers and external vendors, including drawings, calculations, reports, and technical submittals, to confirm compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, and company standards;
  • Coordinate gas-turbine performance and compliance testing, including test planning, data quality review, correction-curve application, reporting, and interface with commercial or regulatory stakeholders;
  • Evaluate and recommend vendors, contractors, and technical service providers based on technical capability, relevant experience, quality systems, safety performance, and ability to meet operational requirements.
  • Manage OEM long-term service agreements and associated technical and commercial matters with Supply Chain, Legal, Commercial, plant stakeholders, and OEMs, including evaluation, negotiation, implementation, warranties, confidentiality obligations, change orders, and scope changes.
  • Maintain and govern OEM technical information, including technical information letters, service bulletins, product bulletins, manuals, and recommended actions, and ensure applicable requirements are incorporated into maintenance programs and capital projects;
  • Provide technical leadership during planned and forced outages, including scope development, quality-plan review, field oversight, procurement of critical spares & long-lead components, specialized tooling, repair requirements, contingency planning, issue resolution, commissioning, and return-to-service decisions;
  • Plan and lead combustion-turbine condition assessments and borescope inspections, including scope development, acceptance-criteria review, data validation, deficiency classification, and repair recommendations;
  • Ensure equipment changes are completed through the applicable management-of-change process and that drawings, procedures, maintenance plans, spare-parts requirements, and training materials are updated;
  • Develop and maintain fleet-wide lifecycle plans for combustion turbines, incorporating inspection histories, maintenance intervals, upgrade roadmaps, risk assessments, and long-range capital forecasts;
  • Monitor equipment health and operating performance using plant historians, OEM monitoring systems, inspection findings, alarms, vibration data, and maintenance history;
  • Ensure relevant documentation is retained in accordance with company expectations including drawings, reference manuals, and other related information;
  • Advise on risk identification, categorization, and mitigation with respect to assigned discipline and systems;
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior members of the team;
  • Be able to travel without restriction within North America and undertake assignments in Ontario lasting up to approximately 30 consecutive days.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidate will be asked to submit a technical writing sample;
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, including P&IDs, piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, equipment layout drawings, and assembly and installation drawings;
  • Working knowledge of ASME PTC 22 (Gas Turbines), ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and ASME B31 piping codes;
  • Must possess a high level of attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop practical recommendations for complex technical and operational issues;
  • Innovative, self-motivated, professional, and able to work and contribute in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment;
  • Ability to work independently to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects simultaneously including providing daily field support;
  • Ability to embrace and lead change;
