As a Survey Crew Chief, you’ll be the trusted expert leading field operations that keep projects moving, from residential developments and commercial sites to large-scale mixed-use communities and renewable energy projects. \nAtwell values the hands-on professionals who make precision happen in the field. We’ll give you the autonomy, technology, and support you need to perform at your best, plus clear pathways for career advancement and mentorship from leaders who’ve walked the same path.\nJob Description\nStart your day in a company-provided truck, heading to project sites that make a visible impact.\n\nLead boundary, topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys for land development projects.\n\nOperate Trimble total stations, GPS, and data collectors to capture high-quality, reliable data.\n\nDouble-check field calculations to ensure accuracy and consistency.\n\nEstablish and locate vertical and horizontal control points with precision.\n\nRecord detailed field notes and prepare accurate as-built documentation.\n\nMaintain your assigned equipment and vehicle with professionalism and pride.\n\nWork independently or guide a team member through the day’s layout and setup.\n\nSolve on-site challenges, interpret plans, and communicate clearly with contractors and engineers.\n\nFollow Atwell’s safety protocols and quality standards on every job.\n\nQualifications\n8+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.\n\nProven expertise in performing construction staking, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys.\nTrimble equipment experience preferred.\n\nStrong communication skills with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders.\n\nA proactive approach to solving problems and getting work done right.\n\nWillingness to travel overnight occasionally (preferred).\n\nDisclaimer \nWhile AI tools may support your application process, this role is built on human talent.
