This role owns complex engineering assignments within a defined service or component area and delivers outcomes with limited day-to-day guidance. You'll work closely with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps to ship secure, well-tested features in a regulated fintech environment, while mentoring junior and mid-level engineers as part of the team's day-to-day delivery. \nWhat You'll Do\nDesign, develop, test, and deploy scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot within your assigned component or service area. \nBuild and maintain secure, performant, well-documented APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger) supporting core banking capabilities. \nIntegrate and support event-driven messaging systems (e.g., JMS, Solace, ActiveMQ) for reliable, ordered processing. \nOwn code quality, maintainability, and test coverage for major components in your scope, including active reduction of technical debt. \nBuild and maintain automated unit and integration test suites (e.g., JUnit, Mockito) for critical paths. \nContainerize applications using Docker and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to support consistent, repeatable deployments. \nMonitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems to protect availability, performance, and reliability for owned services. \nCollaborate with product managers, frontend developers, QA, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end features. \nParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning, mentoring junior and mid-level engineers along the way. \nContinuously improve the codebase, architecture, and technical processes within your area of ownership. \nWho You Are\n9+ years of hands-on backend software development experience, including strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and REST API development. \nExperience with Java messaging technologies (e.g., JMS, Solace, ActiveMQ). \nStrong understanding of Docker and containerized application development. \nProficiency in Git and standard version control workflows (e.g., GitFlow). \nFamiliarity with OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation. \nSolid understanding of API security practices (OAuth2, JWT) and secure coding in regulated environments. \nSolid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns. \nExperience working within an Agile/Scrum development process. \nStrong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to work through moderately varied, non-routine technical problems using sound judgment. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical trade-offs to product, QA, and DevOps stakeholders. \nWhy Join Us?\nBe Part of a Bold Vision - At audax, we’re not just building software - we’re transforming how financial institutions and businesses manage risk, compliance, and growth.
