Experienced editing competencies, with an ear for story,\nunderstanding of the content to relay what is necessary, and a desire to work with our\naward-winning creative Catholic film and audio team. This role will help bring high-quality\nCatholic media to life through the Amen App, audio dramas, podcasts, audiobooks,\nmusic, educational content, and other audio projects.\nThe Audio Engineer will play a key role throughout the audio production process-from\nrecording and editing to sound design, mixing, mastering, and final delivery. The ideal\ncandidate combines strong technical expertise with a creative ear, exceptional attention to\ndetail, and a passion for using the craft of audio storytelling to serve the mission of the\nAugustine Institute.\nA strong understanding of Catholicism is a must; a faithful Catholic identity is a plus. You\nwill work under the daily direction of the creative and logistic leads of each project. As with\nany non-profit organization, multiple hats will be worn that extend to the wider world of\nfilmmaking.\nThis full-time position will work out of the Augustine Institute home office in Florissant,\nMissouri.\nThis is a collaborative role that will work closely with producers, directors, writers, voice\ntalent, composers, and other members of the Studios team to create engaging, polished,\nand technically excellent audio experiences. This role will also collaborate and interact\nwith the Content team at large, that is to say, work with and contribute to content\ndevelopment teams, curriculum, and other content partnerships.\nKey Responsibilities\nRecord, edit, mix, master, and deliver high-quality audio for a wide range of\nAugustine Institute Studios projects.\nSupport audio production for the Amen App, including prayers, meditations,\nreflections, podcasts, and other audio experiences.\nEngineer and produce audio dramas, including dialogue recording, editing, sound\ndesign, ambience, Foley, music integration, mixing, and mastering.\nRecord and produce podcasts, interviews, voiceover, narration, audiobooks, music,\nand other studio-based audio content.\nOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot professional recording equipment,\nmicrophones, studio systems, and related hardware.\nManage and maintain audio sessions and projects within industry-standard digital\naudio workstations (DAWs).\nPerform detailed dialogue editing, noise reduction, restoration, EQ, compression,\nbalancing, and other processing as needed to achieve professional results.\nCreate and implement sound design that supports storytelling, emotion,\natmosphere, and the overall creative vision of a project.\nCollaborate with producers, directors, writers, composers, and other creative team\nmembers to determine appropriate recording and post-production approaches.\nParticipate in recording sessions and provide technical and creative guidance to\nvoice talent and other contributors when appropriate.\nEnsure audio meets appropriate technical specifications and quality standards for\ndigital distribution, mobile applications, streaming platforms, and other delivery\nformats.\nOrganize, archive, and maintain audio files, sessions, sound libraries, and project\nassets in accordance with established Studios workflows.\nTroubleshoot technical issues and provide audio-production support to members\nof the Studios team.\nHelp maintain and improve studio workflows, recording practices, and postproduction\nprocesses.\nStay current with developments in audio technology, recording techniques,\nsoftware, plugins, and emerging production tools.\nContribute creatively to the ongoing development of Augustine Institute Studios'\naudio production capabilities.\nQualifications & Skills\n5+ years of professional experience in audio production, engineering, editing,\nor post-production.\nBachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, Music Production, or a\nrelated field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.\nAdvanced proficiency with industry-standard DAWs, particularly Pro Tools;\nexperience with Logic Pro, Ableton Live, or other professional audio platforms is a\nplus.\nStrong understanding of professional recording, editing, mixing, mastering, and\naudio post-production techniques.\nDemonstrated experience recording and editing spoken-word content, including\ndialogue, narration, podcasts, voiceover, or audiobooks.\nExperience with narrative audio, sound design, Foley, or audio drama\nproduction strongly preferred.\nStrong knowledge of microphones, signal flow, acoustics, recording equipment,\nstudio systems, and audio troubleshooting.\nExperience with dialogue cleanup, noise reduction, restoration, and processing of\nrecorded speech.\nA highly developed ear for audio quality and a meticulous attention to detail.\nAbility to balance technical excellence with creative storytelling and artistic\ndirection.\nStrong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage\nmultiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate\neffectively with both creative and technical team members.\nAbility to work independently while also contributing effectively within a\ncollaborative production environment.\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and resourceful when\naddressing technical or production challenges.\nComfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven creative environment.\nWillingness to learn new technologies, workflows, and production techniques.\nA passion for excellence in Catholic media and an appreciation for the mission of\nthe Augustine Institute.\nPreferred Experience\nExperience producing audio dramas or narrative podcasts.\nExperience creating audio content for mobile apps or digital media platforms.\nExperience working with voice actors, narrators, composers, and other performers.\nExperience with immersive or cinematic sound design.\nExperience with music recording, editing, and production.\nFamiliarity with loudness standards and delivery specifications for streaming,\npodcasting, mobile applications, and digital distribution.\nExperience managing large audio libraries and complex production sessions.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nThe successful candidate will help Augustine Institute Studios consistently deliver audio\nthat is technically excellent, creatively compelling, and worthy of the stories and\nmessages we seek to share.
