Environmental Consultant

Brisbane

Want to bring ideas to life?

At Aurecon, we see engineering as more than solving today’s problems. It’s about creating possibilities for people, communities and the planet.

We’re looking for an Environmental Consultant, Scientist or Engineer to join our Queensland Environment and Planning team, with opportunities based in Brisbane.

This is an opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects spanning energy, transport, water, resources, the built environment and government, bringing your expertise in contaminated land, soils and land resources to challenging projects across Queensland and Australia.

You’ll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where your technical expertise matters, your ideas are valued, and you’ll have the opportunity to help shape solutions from early planning and approvals through to design, construction and delivery.

Engineering possibilities, the Aurecon Way.

How will your ideas contribute to shaping what’s next?

As a member of our Environment and Planning team, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead Land Resource technical scopes supporting Environmental Impact Statements under Queensland and Commonwealth environmental frameworks.
  • Plan and deliver contaminated land, soil and land resource investigations, including acid sulfate soils.
  • Support erosion and sediment control planning, monitoring and auditing.
  • Develop and implement Sampling Analysis and Quality Plans (SAQPs).
  • Lead field programs including mobilisation, safety planning, drilling, test pitting, soil sampling and groundwater and surface water investigations.
  • Prepare high-quality technical assessments and reports aligned with ASC NEPM and PFAS NEMP requirements.
  • Manage environmental data and translate complex technical information into clear, practical advice.
  • Work closely with clients, regulators and Aurecon’s multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Contribute to proposals, project management and successful project delivery.
  • Coach and mentor graduates and emerging environmental professionals.

What are we looking for from you?

You’ll bring strong technical capability along with the confidence to collaborate with clients, lead project work and support the development of others.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 5+ years’ relevant experience in contaminated land, soils and/or Land Resources investigations.
  • Sound knowledge of Queensland contaminated land legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act 1994, National Environment Protection Measures and relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Experience delivering environmental investigations and producing high-quality technical reports.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement and technical writing skills.
  • A genuine commitment to health, safety and wellbeing, including the safety of colleagues, contractors and clients.
  • Experience in erosion and sediment control planning and assessment, with CPESC/RSP-ESC accreditation advantageous.
  • A collaborative approach and a desire to create exceptional outcomes for clients.
  • A current open driver licence.
  • Australian citizenship, or the ability to obtain citizenship in the future, is highly regarded.

Most importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to challenge yourself and others to find better ways of solving complex environmental problems.

How will your future be shaped by us?

At Aurecon, you’ll be part of a community of engineers, designers, scientists, advisors and specialists working together to tackle some of the most complex challenges facing our communities.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across disciplines, industries and geographies, building your technical expertise while developing your leadership and client relationships.
