For the latest news from Aurora, visit aurora.tech or follow us on LinkedIn.\nWhat we are looking for\nAurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all.\nWe’re searching for a Welder/Fabricator supporting first article products for the hardware engineering team.\nIn this role you will\nServe as an R&D Technician supporting the development of Aurora’s autonomous technology, functioning primarily as a Certified Welder and fabricator in the fabrication shop.\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally with Hardware Engineering and cross-departmental teams.\n\nMaintain high standards of documentation and adhere rigorously to safety protocols while meeting project timelines.\n\nOperate effectively with minimal supervision, upholding core values of respect and integrity.\n\nPartner with the R&D Manager to continuously evaluate, streamline, and optimize shop operations and efficiencies.\n\nAssist across other R&D shop units as needed to drive collective team goals.\n\nActively pursue professional growth and continuous learning opportunities.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nTechnical & Fabrication Expertise:\n5+ years of direct welding experience within an R&D or rapid prototyping environment.\n\nDemonstrated proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.\n\nStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical layouts, schematics, engineering drawings, and weld symbols.\n\nProven ability to program and run fabrication equipment, including WaterJets, Laser Cutters, Press Brakes,Plasma, and Powder Coating systems.\n\nHands-on skill with instrumentation, quality inspection tools, multimeters, and precision measurement equipment.\n\nPerform quality control inspections on completed welds to verify structural integrity and adherence to specifications.\n\nMaintain, repair, and upgrade shop machinery as required.\n\nCAD & Design Skills:\nFamiliarity with CAD software (SolidWorks or Catia preferred).\n\nCapability to design custom fixtures and components to assist in fabrication.\n\nThoroughly document and archive tooling designs, custom fixtures, and shop processes for future reference.\n\nSoftware & System Tools:\nProficiency using Windows and/or macOS environments alongside Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets& Docs).\n\nWorking knowledge of enterprise software tools such as Jira, Confluence, ERP, and PLM platforms.\n\nProfessional Competencies & Attributes:\nExceptional attention to detail, craftsmanship, and personal accountability.\n\nStrong problem-solving capability with a structured, analytical approach to troubleshooting.\n\nExcellent interpersonal communication, self-awareness, and team collaboration skills.\n\nProactive, adaptable, and willing to assist teammates in dynamic, fast-paced environments.\n\nDesirable Qualifications\nRecognized industry certifications (e.g., American Welding Society - AWS).\n\nThe hourly rate for this position is $35-$46 per hour. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
