This role contributes to engineering quality, technical assurance, capability development and continuous improvement across AusNet's contestable infrastructure portfolio, based out of Freshwater Place, Melbourne.\nWhat you’ll help deliver\nLeading the delivery and coordination of secondary design packages, ensuring technical outcomes are achieved to agreed quality, schedule and budget expectations.\nProviding advanced technical, commercial, asset management and design advice within the secondary engineering discipline to support project development, delivery and operational objectives.\nShaping the technical direction across assigned projects by applying advanced engineering judgement to identify options, assumptions, constraints, interfaces, risks and recommendations, and by making recommendations and endorsing engineering decisions within delegated authority.\nLeading technical reviews, design reviews, safety-in-design activities and engineering workshops within delegated authority.\nResolving complex technical issues and provide recommendations on matters involving significant technical, operational, constructability, maintainability and asset management considerations.\nPromoting consistency of engineering practices, technical quality and design approaches across projects within the discipline.\nLeading, coaching and mentoring Engineers and Senior Engineers, contributing to capability development and succession planning\nYou don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:\nAt least 8 years’ experience designing secondary systems for high-voltage transmission substations.\nDegree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, recognized by The Washington Accord.\nRegistered Professional Engineer in Victoria (RPEV) or eligible to obtain from BLA-Victoria.\nDemonstrated experience producing, reviewing and checking detailed secondary system design outputs.\nStrong end-to-end experience delivering substation projects, from concept development through to detailed design.\nExtensive technical knowledge and experience in electricity transmission, terminal station and substation engineering, with proficiency in secondary engineering design, construction, operation, maintenance and asset management.\nStrong understanding of project lifecycles, engineering governance, safety-in design, technical assurance, design review, construction support, commissioning, handover and operational readiness requirements.\nDemonstrated ability to resolve complex engineering challenges through the application of advanced technical expertise and practical problem-solving.\nAbility to lead technical reviews and provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to Engineers and Senior Engineers.\nConsiderable knowledge of interfacing engineering disciplines and their impact on terminal station and substation design, constructability, operability, maintainability and equipment selection.\nDemonstrated commitment to technical leadership, engineering quality, collaboration, capability development and continuous improvement.\nExperience or exposure to IEC61850 communication standards would be extremely beneficial\nThe AusNet experience is all about…\nGrowing your impact: We’ll support you to build your career through real opportunities and strong connections.\nSolving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking complex challenges in clever ways and looking at things differently.\nBuilding an energy future to be proud of: We’re a trusted leader, with deep expertise, driven to do what’s right for our communities and customers.\nWe’re committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce.
