The role supports the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting, journal entry preparation, and financial reporting activities.This position serves as a key contributor to the accounting close process and works closely with the U.S. GL Operations Manager, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and operational finance teams to ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The GL Accountant also supports process standardization, internal controls, and continuous improvement initiatives across U.S. operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nMonth-End Close\nPrepare and post journal entries.\nComplete assigned close activities in accordance with close deadlines.\nSupport monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.\nInvestigate and resolve accounting issues identified during close.\nAccount Reconciliations\nPrepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.\nInvestigate reconciling items and drive timely resolution.\nMaintain supporting documentation for all reconciled accounts.\nEnsure compliance with reconciliation standards and policies.\nSupport reconciliations for cash, accruals, payroll liabilities, inventory-related accounts, fixed assets, intercompany accounts, prepaids, and other assets.\nIntercompany Accounting\nPrepare and reconcile intercompany transactions.\nSupport management fee and royalty accounting processes.\nCoordinate monthly intercompany confirmations.\nResolve intercompany differences with domestic and international affiliates.\nAssist with foreign entity accounting support where applicable.\nFinancial Reporting Support\nAssist in preparing monthly financial statements and reporting schedules.\nSupport consolidation reporting activities.\nAnalyze account fluctuations and explain significant variances.\nPrepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.\nInternal Controls & Compliance\nExecute key accounting controls.\nMaintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.\nEnsure proper documentation of journal entries and reconciliations.\nSupport internal and external audits.\nProcess Improvement & Systems\nIdentify opportunities for process improvement and automation.\nAssist with ERP enhancements and testing.\nSupport standardization of accounting procedures across business units.\nParticipate in finance transformation and shared-services initiatives.\nKey Relationshipsategory\nKey Relationships\nInternal\nUS&C GL Operations Manager; Corporate Accounting; Financial Reporting; FP&A; Treasury; Tax; Cost Accounting Team; Center of Excellence Teams\nExternal\nAuditors; banking partners; external consultants; software vendors\nQualifications:\nEducation\n· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.\n· CPA or CPA candidate preferred.\nExperience\n· 3-5 years of accounting experience.\n· General ledger and month-end close experience required.\n· Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.\n· Experience with account reconciliations and financial reporting.\n· Shared Services or Center of Excellence experience preferred.\n· ERP experience strongly preferred.\nTechnical Skills\n· Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.\n· General ledger accounting.\n· Account reconciliations.\n· Intercompany accounting.\n· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.\n· Experience with OneStream, Infor, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems preferred.\nKey Competencies\nAttention to Detail\nAnalytical Thinking\nProblem Solving\nAccounting and Financial Reporting\nTime Management\nProcess Improvement\nCollaboration\nCustomer Service Orientation\nAccountability\nContinuous Improvement Mindset\nSuccess Measures\nKPI/Target Measures\nJournal Entry Accuracy - 99%+\nClose Deadlines - 100% on time\nReconciliation Completion - 100% monthly\nAged Reconciling Items - Minimal / timely resolution\nAudit Requests - Timely response\nInternal Control Compliance - No significant findings\nProcess Improvement Participation - Annual improvement contributions\nAustin Powder is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer and is committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
