The role combines development, BAU support and enhancements, working closely with business, QA and DevOps teams to ensure platform stability, scalability and continuous delivery of new capabilities.\nYour Team\nYou will be part of a high-performing engineering team within the Technology and Delivery division, responsible for designing, building and operating scalable, resilient platforms that underpin critical market infrastructure. The team works closely with product and operations to deliver robust, secure and high-performance systems, driving engineering excellence, modern architecture and continuous improvement to support ASX’s mission of a stable and efficient marketplace.\nYour responsibilities\nDesign, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java and related technologies.\n\nDeliver new features, enhancements and technical solutions aligned with business and platform requirements.\n\nProvide BAU support, including incident investigation, root cause analysis and defect remediation.\n\nDevelop and maintain REST APIs, microservices and event-driven integrations.\n\nBuild and support integrations with upstream and downstream platforms, databases and messaging systems.\n\nParticipate in application design, code reviews and architecture discussions.\n\nContribute to platform performance optimisation, scalability and reliability initiatives.\n\nSupport release management activities, including deployment, regression testing and production rollout.\n\nCollaborate closely with QA teams to improve automation coverage and overall software quality.\n\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using modern DevOps practices.\n\nEnsure solutions comply with security, governance and operational standards.\n\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, operational runbooks and support procedures.\n\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nYour experience and qualifications\nMust have\n6-8+ years of hands-on Java development experience in enterprise environments.\n\nStrong expertise in Core Java, including Collections, Concurrency, Multithreading, JVM Internals and JDBC.\n\nExperience building and supporting distributed systems, RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.\n\nStrong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework and related Java ecosystem technologies.\n\nExperience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or SQL Server, including advanced SQL development.\n\nExperience with messaging and event-driven architectures using Kafka, JMS or similar technologies.\n\nProficiency in Git-based source control and modern CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab, Jenkins and GitHub Actions.\n\nExperience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.\n\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills.\n\nExperience working in Unix/Linux environments and scripting.\n\nSolid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns and secure coding practices.\n\nExperience delivering solutions within Agile/Scrum environments.\n\nStrong stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills.\n\nNice to have\nExperience in Capital Markets, Trading, Clearing, Risk or Post-Trade platforms.\n\nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS.\n\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.\n\nKnowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana or Prometheus.\n\nExperience with performance testing and non-functional testing practices.\n\nExposure to event streaming, data platforms and real-time processing architectures.\n\nUnderstanding of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem and Change Management.\n\nExperience supporting highly available, mission-critical enterprise platforms.\n\nExposure to DevSecOps and security best practices.\n\nASX values\nWe put the market first.\n\nWe stand up for what’s right.\n\nWe achieve more together.\n\nWe drive positive change.\n\nWe make hiring decisions based on your skills, capabilities and experience, and how you’ll help us to live our values.
