About us

Established in 1840, we are Australia’s first wellbeing company, delivering health, wealth and care services for our members and the community.

As a social enterprise, we’re motivated by our purpose to positively impact the wellbeing of millions. We reinvest profits to deliver products and services sustainably that matter most to our members, customers and the Australian community.

For us, Real Wellbeing encompasses the whole experience of life. It’s about feeling supported in your health, connected with your community and empowered to live life on your terms.

The Opportunity

The Senior IT Internal Auditor will conduct independent reviews both autonomously and as a team member covering risk management, process improvement, control assessment, and governance processes. These will primarily be within the domains of IT and Information Security, though with an expectation of being able to perform internal audits on more general business operations.

The objective is to produce reports providing constructive practical, risk-aligned recommendation to address assessed control deficiencies and operating inefficiencies.

The role also supports Group Audit’s data analytics and AI capability, with an approximate focus of 70% IT audit and 30% data analytics and AI, including the use of data validation, analysis, and visualisation to enhance audit insight, coverage, and reporting

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Review key processes and evaluate the risk and control environment using AU GA Methodology. Once controls are identified, an audit program is to be devised to evaluate control efficiency and effectiveness via enquiry and testing of controls.
  • Develop draft audit scopes via engagement with key stakeholders as required and with awareness of the audit universe to ensure minimal scope overlap or gaps.
  • Ascertain the extent of compliance with established policies, procedures, and legislated practices.
  • To improve the quality of the reviews undertaken through a thorough understanding of events affecting the business at the micro and macro levels.
    • This includes the ability to understand and keep up to date to rapidly changing and new technologies and applies an understanding of IT risk, control, and security to his/her work.
    • It also includes the ability to work with data sources, perform data extraction and querying, and develop dashboards or visualisations that support audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
    • Further, the role requires the ability to utilise and support AI adoption within Internal Audit, assess AI against best practices, and actively engage with industry and peer forums.
  • Raise issues and results of audits and communicate these with Line and Senior Managers through verbal discussions and written reports that clearly articulate key issues, themes, root causes etc.
  • Assess action plans proposed by Management and provide ‘Value add’ solutions where required.
  • Achieve the delivery of completed audit assignments within the budgeted timeframes agreed.
  • Undertake any ad hoc reviews or management requests with direction from the GIA management. This may include delivery of data analytics support, development of dashboards, data extraction, querying and analysis to respond to audit or management requirements.
  • Assist the Internal Audit team in embedding data analytics and AI techniques across planned reviews throughout the year, leveraging these capabilities across the audit lifecycle including planning, scoping, fieldwork testing, and reporting.
  • Support DA & AI working group who meet on a regular basis to develop & execute annual AI & Data plan including the setup of AI prompt library, Data Landscape library, AI Integration plan and AI training plan.
  • Proactively maintain and foster effective professional relationships with key stakeholders during and outside formal audit assignments, including supporting DA and AI initiatives and promoting their effective use within Internal Audit and stakeholder engagements.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to Internal Auditors, as necessary.
  • Maintain continuous professional development and training to remain abreast of current practices and skills.
