As a Hardware Engineer, you will own products and subsystems from proof of concept through production validation testing (PVT), combining mechatronic design, electronics integration, hands-on prototyping, and hardware validation.\nYou will collaborate with the Munich Flight Operations, System Integration, and Supply Chain teams, as well as with Zurich’s engineering team, transforming our core technologies into specialized, manufacturing-ready tactical assets.\nResponsibilities and Duties\nIndependently own development of assigned products and subsystems for drone platforms and RF products from PoC through PVT, resolving evolving requirements and taking responsibility for quality, technical trade-offs, and delivery.\nDesign mechatronic assemblies and integrate electronics, balancing performance, weight, power, reliability, and manufacturability with input from specialist engineers.\nBuild and iterate prototypes using 3D printing and mechanical assembly; integrate electronics, bring up hardware, and troubleshoot faults using bench measurements, soldering, and PCB rework as needed.\nPlan and execute bench, integration, and field tests with Flight Operations and System Integration; verify hardware-firmware interaction, record measurements, investigate failures, and verify fixes.\nEvaluate and select components, modules, materials, and suppliers against system requirements; work directly with contract manufacturers on build readiness and pilot production.\nDeliver manufacturing handover packages covering CAD and PCB files, BOMs, assembly instructions, and test procedures, enabling manufacturing partners to build and verify reliable hardware consistently.\nQualifications and Skills\n3+ years developing robotic, mechatronic, or embedded hardware, with a relevant engineering or Computer Science degree, or equivalent practical experience.\nDepth in one discipline and practical breadth across mechanics, electronics, and firmware, demonstrated through working prototypes, debugging, and hardware validation.\nAbility to read schematics, understand circuit design choices, and navigate PCB layouts to debug and integrate hardware; proficiency with relevant CAD tools and laboratory instruments.\nWorking knowledge of C/C++ and Python to support firmware integration, driver testing, and test automation.\nIndependent problem-solving, clear technical documentation, and effective collaboration in English with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams.\nEU citizenship and willingness to work primarily on-site in Munich with 20% travel.\nBenefits\nFlexible working hours\nStock Options\nGenerous holiday allowance\nPension plan \nExtended social security package \nEnhanced maternity & paternity leave\nWellpass membership \nAbout Auterion\nWe are building the leading software platform for AI-powered autonomous systems for enterprise and government customers.
