Our group of caring associates create financial security by helping individuals and businesses make a new start when a loss occurs.\nJob Description\nAuto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated intern to join our IT Division as a Modern Technology Software Developer Intern for the summer.The position requires the person to:\nDefine, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and pre-existing software programs and applications.\nActively participate in code/design reviews and brainstorming sessions.\nDevelop program and system documentation.\nAnalyze and fix software errors in a timely and accurate fashion.\nConsult with users, architects, project leaders, and management to resolve problems and suggest alternatives.\nThis internship has full-time hours (Monday through Friday) and is in person in Lansing, Michigan. Interns choose their start and end dates. Most join in mid-May and stay until mid-August.\nDesired Skills and Experience\nStudents must be working toward a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, and have at least two years of coursework completed.\nKnowledge of Java and RESTful services is strongly preferred.\nExperience with a modern IDE is strongly preferred.\nExperience with JavaScript/HTML/CSS, Node.js, React, Angular, and/or container deployments is a plus.\nExperience with source control management software is a plus.\nEnthusiasm for driving improvement by finding and implementing solutions to new challenges.\nMust be able to learn and effectively use tools and software development techniques as practiced, acquired, or adopted within the IT Division.\nEqual Employment Opportunity\nAuto-Owners Insurance is an equal opportunity employer.
