Autodesk is an American software company founded in 1982 that makes the design and engineering tools used to create buildings, infrastructure, products, factories and visual effects. AutoCAD established it as the standard for computer-aided drafting, and the portfolio now spans Revit for building information modelling, Fusion for product design and manufacturing, Civil 3D for infrastructure, and Maya and 3ds Max for film, television and games. Headquartered in San Francisco, the company moved fully to subscription licensing in the last decade and is pushing customers toward cloud platforms that connect design, construction and production data across a project's lifecycle.
Job Requisition ID #26WD101505Position Overview

Autodesk is looking for a Communications Manager to join our Customer & Partner Communications team. In this role, you will help connect employees and partners with the information they need to understand Autodesk's priorities, navigate change and take action.

You will lead the strategy and editorial direction for high-visibility communications reaching Autodesk's global go-to-market audiences, with an initial focus on recurring communications for Autodesk’s field teams and our partner ecosystem. You will determine what our audiences need to know, help stakeholders turn complex information into clear and useful communications, and continuously improve how and when we reach these audiences.

This is a role for a strong communicator with excellent editorial judgment who is comfortable moving between strategy and hands-on execution. You will write and edit content, manage editorial priorities, advise stakeholders on communications approaches, and partner with colleagues responsible for channel production and delivery.

In addition to owning core communications channels, you will have opportunities to support other internal communications, go-to-market initiatives, business changes and strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

Communications Strategy and Editorial Leadership

  • Lead the communications and editorial strategy for recurring channels serving Autodesk's global field and partner audiences
  • Develop editorial calendars and content plans that connect business priorities with the information audiences need to be successful
  • Make thoughtful decisions about what to communicate, when to communicate it, and which channels and formats will be most effective
  • Identify themes, stories, and opportunities that help audiences understand the broader context behind individual business updates
  • Maintain a strong editorial standard across communications, ensuring content is clear, relevant, concise, actionable, and appropriate for the audience
  • Help evolve existing communications channels and identify opportunities to improve the overall audience experience
Writing and Content Development
  • Write, edit, and shape communications on a range of business topics, from strategic initiatives and organizational changes to programs, launches, events, and operational updates
  • Translate complex or highly detailed information into clear, engaging communications for employees and partners
  • Work with subject matter experts to strengthen messaging, simplify content and clarify the desired audience action
  • Develop messaging, FAQs, talking points, announcements and other communications materials as needed
  • Ensure communications are consistent with Autodesk's broader narratives, voice and business priorities
Stakeholder Partnership
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across Communications, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing and other internal business teams
  • Advise stakeholders on communications strategy, messaging, timing, audience and channel selection rather than simply fulfilling communication requests
  • Manage content intake and competing priorities, helping stakeholders understand editorial decisions and communication tradeoffs
  • Bring stakeholders together around coordinated communications plans and identify opportunities to reduce duplication, noise, or conflicting messages
  • Navigate a global, matrixed organization and build alignment across teams with different priorities and perspectives
Channel and Program Management
  • Own the day-to-day health and effectiveness of assigned communications channels, working closely with partners who support production, publishing, localization, and distribution
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, editorial processes, and standards that support reliable and timely communications
  • Coordinate reviews and approvals with appropriate business, communications, and functional stakeholders
  • Manage multiple communications initiatives simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities and emerging business needs
  • Partner with communications colleagues on broader initiatives and provide communications support in other areas as organizational needs evolve
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
  • Use quantitative and qualitative feedback to understand how communications are performing and where improvements are needed
  • Track channel health and audience engagement and translate insights into recommendations
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders and audiences to improve content, processes, and channel strategy
  • Identify opportunities to simplify communications, improve the audience experience, and make our communications practices more scalable and effective

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of professional experience in communications, internal or employee communications, corporate communications, public relations, marketing communications, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience with excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with demonstrated ability to make complex information clear, compelling, and accessible
  • Experience developing and executing communications strategies and plans that support business objectives and drive audience understanding, engagement, or action
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to prioritize information based on audience needs and business impact
  • Experience managing recurring communications, editorial programs, content calendars, or multi-channel communications
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve communications workflows, content development, or productivity
  • Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills, including the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across functions and organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders while adapting to changing business needs
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in internal or employee communications.
  • Experience developing communications for Sales, Customer Success, partner, or other go-to-market audiences
  • Experience working in a B2B or technology company
  • Familiarity with complex, matrixed, or global organizations
  • Experience supporting organizational change, business transformation, or complex cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders to develop messaging and communicate business priorities
  • Experience using communications metrics, audience feedback, or other insights to inform editorial strategies and channel decisions
  • Experience developing communications for global audiences, including localization or regional coordination
