This position will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The Accounting Manager reports to the CFO and will supervise the Accounting team. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation with accompanying reconciliations as well as local in-country reporting, and provide financial analysis as directed. This position must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.\nResponsibilities\nFully responsible for delivering the general ledger, properly reconciled with supporting documentation\nEnsure accurate and timely filing of local government monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.\nEnsure that customer invoices are issued timely and accurately.\nPerform monthly Bank reconciliations.\nReview and approve all AP vouchers for proper coding.\nAssist with financial and tax audits, including Procomer and the local government.\nAssist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements\nAssist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls\nReview and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures\nProvide technical support to outside auditors and governmental program auditors\nResponsible for the annual tax package for Procomer and local income tax (Ministerio de Hacienda)\nResponsible for the customs process of the Fixed Assets and equipment\nConversion and proper keeping of the Financial Statements to local currency.\nResponsible for local legal books.\nReview local insurance policies.\nOversee cash applications.\nSupervise Fixed Assets Inventory Control.\nPrepare various Costa Rica local government reports\nProvide financial analysis as directed.\nWork with individual departments to prepare budgets and consolidate them into one overall corporate budget\nPrepare internal reports for executive leadership and support their decision-making\nEnsure month-end close package and variance analysis is completed\nCreate, update, and maintain financial models and detailed forecasts of the company’s future operations\nIdentify and understand business challenges; propose and create solutions.\nDive deeply into financial data and become a subject matter expert to provide additional insights.\nIdentify and research variances to forecast, budget, and prior-year expenses, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.\nSkills and Experience\nEnglish - Spanish Language (Oral and written B2+ or above).\nMinimum of five (5) years of experience working in a supervisory position in accounting• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting• Strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel)• Knowledge of Great Plains is a plus• Good analytical and problem-solving skills• Ability to prioritize tasks and to work independently• Team-oriented person who can focus on the details.
