The role delivers secure, reliable and scalable virtual workspaces for users across the organisation, ensuring platform performance, availability and a consistent user experience.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, implement and maintain VDI and virtual application platforms.\nManage virtual desktop images, application delivery, user profiles and policy configurations.\nManage VDI capacity, performance and availability to support a consistent user experience.\nIntegrate VDI services with identity, endpoint management, storage, networking and security platforms.\nImplement secure configuration baselines and access controls.\nAutomate image creation, provisioning, configuration and maintenance activities.\nMonitor VDI and Microsoft server platforms, investigating and resolving performance and availability issues.\nSupport patching, upgrades, platform migrations and lifecycle management.\nParticipate in incident, problem, change and major incident management.\nMaintain technical documentation, design standards and operating procedures.\nCollaborate with client engineering, network, security, storage and application teams.\nContribute to modernisation initiatives and continuous service improvement.\nRequirements\nSkills and Experience\nStrong experience in designing and supporting enterprise VDI and server environments.\nKnowledge of virtual desktop, application virtualisation and profile management technologies.\nExperience with virtualisation platforms and their storage and network dependencies.\nIn-depth knowledge of Citrix, Windows desktop and server operating systems, Active Directory and Group Policy.\nExperience with endpoint management, identity integration and security controls.\nFamiliarity with desktop image management, application packaging and build automation.\nKnowledge of monitoring, user experience analysis and performance optimisation.\nStrong understanding of platform reliability, security, resilience and operational excellence.\nExperience participating in incident, problem, change and lifecycle management.\nAbility to document technical solutions and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nA collaborative, improvement-focused and automation-oriented approach to engineering.\nCommitment to continuous learning, professional development and relevant industry accreditations.\nQualifications and Professional Experience\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.\nTypically six to ten years of relevant experience, or demonstrable expertise appropriate to the role.\nDesirable Experience\nExperience with cloud-hosted or hybrid VDI solutions.\nUnderstanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts.\nExperience coordinating the work of others or contributing to technical
