As determined by the company based upon business needs, an employee in this position may be required to perform duties and take responsibility for work other than as described in this document.\nAbout the Actuarial Coordinator Internship Position:\nThe Actuarial Intern provides actuarial support to the Corporate Actuarial Department, assisting with savings monitoring, analysis and calculations, monitoring data outcomes, monthly data analysis, Accounts Payable processes, fee and savings reconciliations, and incurred but not reported (IBNR) calculations. Working approximately 25 to 28 hours per week, this role supports the accuracy and efficiency of departmental operations while developing practical actuarial knowledge and professional experience. Ideal for a college student pursuing an Actuarial degree or an individual transitioning back into the workforce, the Actuarial Intern works collaboratively with team members and reports to Avalon’s Senior Vice President, Actuarial.\nThis position is eligible for remote work, but quarterly travel will be required to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida.\nActuarial Coordinator Internship - Essential Functions and Responsibilities:\nTracks savings monthly for Health Plans.\nReviews claims data and performs analyses on per member per month (PMPM) spend and savings.\nResponds to actuarial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.\nPrepares incurred but not reported (IBNR) data and communicates impact to revenue.\nAssists with preparing Health Plan data reconciliations and researches outstanding items as needed.\nAssists with financial reporting requests by gathering supporting documentation.\nMaintains organized actuarial records and files in accordance with departmental procedures.\nCompiles, reviews, and enters actuarial data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.\nProvides general administrative support to the Actuarial Department.\nCollaborates with team members to support daily actuarial operations and other projects as assigned.\nActuarial Coordinator Internship - Minimum Qualifications:\nWorking knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.\nAnalytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate data with attention to detail and accuracy.\nStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.\nAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.\nActuarial Coordinator Internship -
