This role is accountable for actively contributing to code, architecture, and design decisions alongside the team, while also guiding and developing a high-performing Software Engineering team to ensure reliable delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality technology solutions aligned with business priorities. Through direct technical involvement, consistent people leadership, and effective cross-functional collaboration, the Supervisor fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence while ensuring organizational goals and customer needs are consistently met.\nThis position is eligible for remote work, but quarterly travel will be required to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida.\nSupervisor, Software Engineering - Essential Functions and Responsibilities:\nActively contribute as a hands-on team member to code, architecture, and design decisions alongside the team.\nResolve technical problems, issues, and escalations within the development team.\nStay current with technology trends and instill a continuous learning mindset in the team.\nInvest in the growth of each team member through regular mentorship, coaching, and career development conversations, and proactively create growth opportunities (stretch projects, skill-building, exposure to new technologies) so team members find fulfillment and see a path forward in their careers.\nWork closely with product teams, architects, and other stakeholders to collaborate on product requirements and roadmaps.\nCollaborate with all levels within the organization including senior leaders.\nConduct regular one-on-one meetings and perform performance evaluations.\nFacilitate successful completion of projects and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach.\nResponsible for continuous self-study, training, partnering with management, and seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up-to-date with industry and organizational trends. \nIdentify staffing needs, participate in recruitment efforts, and provide input into hiring decisions.\n Supervisor, Software Engineering - Minimum Qualifications:\n2+ years in a technical leadership role\nApplicable Bachelor’s Degree or 10+ years direct, relevant experience in lieu of a degree\nExperience with IT Engineering, Quality Assurance, and automation best practices.\nExperience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant continual development.\nStrong project management, problem solving, organizational, relationship, communication, and negotiation skills (oral and written) are required.\nAbility to work in a fast paced, Agile (SAFe, Scrum and Kanban) environment.\nStrong understanding of IT strategy and how it relates to business objectives.\nMust be an effective oral and written communicator.\nPrior hands-on experience in a technical lead or senior engineering role required;
