The program has been established to modernise Avant’s technology environment by reducing our exposure to end-of-life and end-of-support technologies, replacing legacy platforms and retiring unsupported systems.\nWorking closely with technology teams, business stakeholders and external partners, you will manage technology projects from initiation through to implementation, go-live and transition into business as usual.\nThis is a great opportunity for a strong, hands-on mid-level Project Manager who enjoys bringing structure and clarity to complex technology delivery, can confidently navigate competing priorities and dependencies, and knows how to keep stakeholders aligned and projects moving.\nKey responsibilities:\nLead technology projects end to end across planning, requirements, design, build, integration, testing, implementation and go-live.\nDevelop and manage integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies and critical paths.\nManage project scope, budgets, forecasting, risks, issues and change control.\nCoordinate delivery across internal technology teams, business stakeholders and external vendors.\nManage vendor performance against agreed scope, timelines, cost and quality.\nPlan and coordinate implementation, release and cutover activities, including go-live readiness, hypercare and transition to operational teams.\nIdentify and proactively manage delivery risks, resource constraints, competing priorities and cross-project dependencies.\nProvide clear and concise project reporting, including executive and Steering Committee updates.\nFacilitate project governance forums and ensure stakeholders understand key decisions, trade-offs, risks and delivery impacts.\nTranslate technical delivery challenges into clear business considerations and recommendations.\nEnsure projects meet Avant’s governance and assurance requirements while continuously improving delivery practices.\nExperience required:\n5+ years’ experience delivering technology projects, ideally within complex enterprise environments.\nDemonstrated experience managing technology projects from initiation through to implementation and handover.\nStrong experience working across multiple internal teams, vendors and external partners.\nWorking knowledge of Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies.\nExperience managing project budgets, forecasts, risks, issues, dependencies and governance.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft technology environments and tools such as Microsoft 365 and Azure DevOps.\nStrong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across technical teams, business leaders and senior stakeholders.\nExcellent communication skills and an ability to turn complex technical issues into clear business decisions.\nSound commercial judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining momentum.\nA relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Project Management, Information Technology or a related discipline.\nExperience within financial services or insurance, or delivering enterprise platform, integration or data projects, would be highly regarded.\nAbout Avant\nAvant is Australia’s leading medical defence organisation, proudly supporting medical professionals for over 130 years.
