Looking for a new challenge?\nAs an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Feed Manufacturing across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering Team, based at our Feed Mill in Allensmore, Hereford.\nThis position is ideally suited to someone with a minimum Level 3 qualification in Engineering and preferably IEE 17th or 18th Edition.\nPurpose of the role:\nAs a Multi Skilled Engineer operating from a well-established animal feed mill, you will optimise machinery output and product quality, and minimise plant downtime through effective preventative maintenance and efficient response whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practices.\nA fast-paced, dynamic feed manufacturing environment which is noisy and dusty in some areas, manufacturing animal feeds where hygiene standards are critical. The role is predominantly factory based.\nYour key responsibilities as a Multi Skilled Engineer will include:\nAssist in building an up-to-date PPM system and ensuring planned maintenance is carried out professionally and promptly.\nEnsure the Engineering maintenance carried out in line with the current schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is taken. \nQuick and effective response to breakdowns, where possible identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring. \nCommunicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Shift Supervisor / Mill Manager and work with the operations department to minimise plant disruption. \nReporting and tracking lost time, cause of breakdowns, record parts used/required \nFollow good engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department. \nEnsure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety and environmental guidelines reporting any issues\nAssist in PUWER, LOLER, Risk Assessments and fall out work associated. \nEnsure compliance through regular process weigher and Liquid meter calibrations (weights and measures Act) \nProficient in engineering operations whilst working in hazardous environments (Confined Space Entry, Hot working in confined spaces, WAH) \nProficient in site services work procedures. \nParticipate in Mechanical projects and installations - Elevators, conveyors, machine installs, machine refurbishment. \nParticipate in Electrical projects and installations - Panel manufacture and installation, PLC upgrades, PAT testing, thermographic surveying. \nEfficient operations of effluent plant systems ensuring environmental compliance. \nUnderstand the operations of fire suppression systems - Fire Trace, Sprinkler system, Hydrant system. \nFollow the communicated escalation route for unscheduled plant downtime and minimise downtime by following a good engineering practice. \nDemonstrate understanding of environmental impacts - DSEAR, Dust controls and Explosion mitigation. \nRaise spares stock and non-stock request forms/emails.\nWhat we are looking for:\n It is essential that you are qualified in a relevant engineering trade with 4 + years of engineering experience and an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering\nYou will have a full understanding of mechanical processes and assemblies including Electrical or welding/fabrication experience\nSelf-motivated attitude with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a timeline-driven environment\nInterpersonal communication skills\nFlexibility with a positive attitude and the ability to work well within a team \nBasic computer skills for typing handovers, ordering spares etc. (Microsoft Excel, Word, emails) \nFood manufacture experience desirable \nIEE 17th or 18th Edition desirable \nPLC experience desirable\nAir and pneumatics trained desirable \nBoiler Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) certification desirable\nHours of Work:\nWeek 1 Mon, Tues, weds (Thurs, Fri off) Sat, Sun, (All 6am-6pm)\nWeek 2 (Mon, Tues, Wed off) Thurs, Fri (Sat, Sun off) (All 6am-6pm)\nWeek 3 Mon, Tues, weds (Thurs, Fri off) Sat, Sun, (All 6am-6pm)\nWeek 4 (Mon, Tues, Wed off) Thurs, Fri (Sat, Sun off) (All 6am - 6pm)\nWeek 5 Mon, Tues, weds (Thurs, Fri off) Sat, Sun, (All 6pm-6am)\nWeek 6 (Mon, Tues, Wed off) Thurs, Fri (Sat, Sun off) (All 6pm-6am)\n Rotating shifts 18.00 - 06.00 and 06.00 - 18.00\nThis averages to 3.5 days per week an annualised average of 42 hours per week\n\nA little about us:\nAvara Foods is one of the UK’s largest food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to the nation’s most popular supermarkets and restaurants.
