We have major processing sites across England and Wales, and an agricultural network of over 350 farms, spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.\nAbout the Role:\nAs an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Environmental Sustainability across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Apprentice to join our Environmental Compliance Team.\nThere is the opportunity for the role to be undertaken as a Level 4 Apprenticeship as a Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner.\nFor the right applicant, there will be opportunities for further development in line with their future career aspirations.\nAs an Environmental Compliance Apprentice you’ll be workingMonday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00\nWhat will you be doing as an Environmental Compliance Apprentice at Avara?\nAs aEnvironmental & Energy Compliance Apprentice you will support theEnvironmental Compliance team in maintaining and improving compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, MCERTS, environmental legislation, and company management system.\nWhat will your key responsibilities as an Environmental Compliance Apprentice include?\nSupport the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS).\nAssist in reviewing and updating environmental procedures, forms, registers, and supporting documentation.\nHelp ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and MCERTS requirements\nSupport the implementation of changes required by evolving environmental standards and business needs.\nSupport the planning and delivery of environmental and energy audits across multiple operational sites to ensure compliance with ISO 14001 requirements.\n\nAssist with audit reporting, monitoring corrective actions, and helping to close out audit findings and non-conformances.\n\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives by tracking audit performance and supporting the development of effective audit programmes and plans.\n\nSupport the collection, validation, and analysis of environmental and energy performance data.\n\nAssist with maintaining compliance records, developing dashboards and reports, and monitoring key environmental and energy metrics\n\nHelp manage energy consumption data across systems, ensuring data accuracy and investigating any discrepancies or anomalies.\n\nSupport operational sites with environmental compliance activities, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to environmental standards and permit requirements.\n\nAssist with environmental incident investigations, follow-up actions, and promoting best environmental practices across site teams.\n\nBe involved in developing and delivering environmental training, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives to promote understanding of environmental responsibilities and procedures.\n\nSupport environmental and energy improvement projects, identifying risks and opportunities and contributing to performance reporting.\n\nMaintain accurate environmental records and documentation, supporting preparation for external audits and certification visits.\n\nWhat you’ll need to be successful:\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills - e.g. pivot table & competency in other Microsoft Office Applications such as PowerBI.\nAn understanding of agriculture & food systems, specifically poultry supply chains, is desirable.\nExperience gathering and interpreting large sets of data, with the ability to present in a simple format.\nExcellent analytical skills and the ability to manipulate data for varied applicable audiences.\nThe ability to multitask, with a strong attention to detail.\nThe ability to well work under pressure to hit both external and internal deadlines.\nExcellent communication and presentation skills.\nThe ability to understand relevant issues in-depth and consistently looking to broaden your knowledge and understanding.\nThe ability to work independently and proactively as a part of a small team.\nThe ability to work cross-functionally across different departments and teams.\nFull UK driving license.\nThe benefits of working for Avara Foods:\nAs an Environmental Compliance Apprentice you will enjoy a secure, supportive and progressive working environment, where your contribution and achievements will be recognised and rewarded.\nWe offer comprehensive training as well as continuous development as you build your long-term career with us.
