This position shall report to the Finance Head (India) and play an important role in helping shape the accounting team as the company grows. This role presents an incredible learning opportunity and will include exposure to a variety of accounting processes and business process optimization (for the US parent company and our India subsidiary) in a global, fast-paced, and growing environment.\nLocation: Bangalore (Onsite 5 day workweek)\nKey Responsibilities\nRevenue Recognition & Contract Review\nReview customer contracts and assess contractual terms to determine the appropriate accounting treatment and revenue recognition methodology.\nAnalyze contract deliverables, milestones, performance obligations, pricing structures, and amendments to ensure proper accounting treatment.\nIdentify accounting implications and document assumptions or judgments supporting revenue recognition decisions.\nEnsure revenue recognition is performed accurately and in compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.\nRevenue Template Preparation & Monthly Reporting\nPrepare and maintain monthly revenue recognition schedules and templates for both India and US entities.\nValidate inputs supporting revenue calculations and ensure consistency with contractual arrangements and project status.\nPerform detailed reviews of revenue schedules prior to month-end close.\nPrepare revenue reporting and variance analysis for management review.\nContract Asset & Contract Liability Reconciliation\nPerform monthly reconciliation of contract assets and contract liabilities and investigate variances or unusual movements.\nEnsure balances are adequately supported and tie back to underlying contracts and recognized revenue.\nMaintain reconciliation schedules and audit-ready supporting documentation.\nMonitor and resolve aging or unreconciled balances on a timely basis.\nCross-functional Coordination with Project Teams\nPartner closely with Project Managers and operational teams to identify project milestones and trigger points impacting revenue recognition.\nMonitor project progress, scope changes, and contract amendments to ensure accounting treatment is updated accordingly.\nDrive timely communication and resolution of issues impacting revenue reporting.\nInvoicing & Accounts Receivable Management\nOwn invoicing activities for India and US entities ensuring timely and accurate billing.\nMaintain AR records and customer billing schedules.\nMonitor AR aging and follow up on outstanding balances with internal and external stakeholders.\nInvestigate and resolve billing discrepancies and collection-related issues.\nCash Application & Bank Accounting\nPerform weekly cash posting in Intacct for the parent entity.\nEnsure cash receipts are accurately applied against customer invoices.\nReconcile cash postings with accounting records and investigate discrepancies.\nDepreciation and Amortization Accounting\nMaintain amortization schedules for prepaid expenses, PPE and intangible assets.\nPrepare and post monthly depreciation and amortization entries.\nSupport reconciliation and month-end close activities related to depreciation and amortization.\nSales Tax Accounting & Compliance\nCompute sales tax liabilities and prepare necessary accounting entries.\nMaintain supporting schedules and documentation.\nCoordinate with stakeholders for tax-related reporting and compliance activities.\n Month-End Close & Process Improvements\nSupport month-end and year-end close processes.\nMaintain strong accounting controls and documentation.\nIdentify process improvement opportunities and support automation initiatives.\nDesired Skills & Qualifications\n- Total at-least 5 years experience (3 to 4 years of experience in accounting roles with exposure to revenue accounting)\n- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Accounting, or Finance. Professional accounting qualification (CA Inter / ACCA / CMA - pursuing or completed) is preferred.\n- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end close processes.\n- Hands-on experience with AP and intercompany accounting.\n- Working knowledge of GST and basic compliance requirements.\n- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (Intacct & Zoho Books)\n- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.\nWhat We Are Looking For\n- Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset.\n- Clear communication and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.\n- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization.\n- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving accounting requirements.\nAvathon is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
