With 6,000+ experts worldwide, we combine engineering expertise with AI-native thinking to turn ambitious ideas into real-world impact across industries, technologies, and markets.\nAt the core of the role\nWe are looking for a Senior AI Engineer / Founding Engineer to build end-to-end AI systems in a fast-moving R&D environment.\nThe role spans the full engineering lifecycle - from scraping and ingesting massive geological datasets, through orchestrating AI agents, to rendering 3D insights in the UI.\nYou will work on AI/ML system design, agentic workflows, backend development.\n\nCore skills you’ll bring\nML Leadership Experience - ability to review business problems, define AI/ML designs, and provide technical direction beyond agents and LLMs.\n\nAgentic Orchestration - strong experience with frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, or similar.\n\nMulti-Agent Systems - ability to design multi-agent systems, including supervisor/worker patterns, orchestration flows, and state management.\n\nGenerative AI & LLMs - hands-on experience with LLMs such as Gemini, Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar.\n\nRAG - strong understanding of RAG architectures, retrieval optimization, embeddings, semantic search, context handling, and prompt design.\n\nFunction Calling & Tool Usage - experience with function calling and external tool usage.\n\nVector Databases - experience with vector databases such as Vertex AI RAG Engine, Pinecone, FAISS, or similar.\n\nPython & API Development - strong Python skills and experience building APIs using FastAPI or similar.\n\nAsync Programming - understanding of asynchronous programming and handling long-running processes.\n\nData Modeling & Validation - experience with Pydantic or equivalent frameworks, including the ability to design structured inputs and outputs for AI systems and APIs.\n\nThe impact you'll create\nBuild end-to-end AI systems spanning large-scale geospatial data scraping/ingestion, multi-agent backends, and responsive 3D web interfaces.\n\nBuild end-to-end systems spanning scraping and ingesting massive geological datasets, orchestrating AI agents, and rendering 3D insights in the UI.\n\nDevelop AI systems using LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, function calling, and external tools.\n\nBuild performant Python/FastAPI backends using asynchronous programming and supporting long-running processes.\n\nDesign structured and validated inputs and outputs for AI systems and APIs.\n\nWork independently in R&D / POC environments and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.\n\nApply strong problem-solving and ownership skills to rapidly evolving AI/ML challenges.\n\nPeople are at the core of Avenga.
