This is a genuinely hands-on role spanning modern React/TypeScript applications, Go-based backend services, and Python connectors that integrate with third-party APIs.\nYou will build data-dense interfaces for cost and usage insights, create and evolve scalable services, and develop reliable integrations with cloud providers, LLM vendors, and SaaS platforms. You will work with real-world API complexity: OAuth and API-key authentication, credential lifecycle, pagination, rate limits, retries, idempotency, partial failures, and normalisation of data into the FOCUS FinOps standard.\nThis is not a frontend role with occasional backend exposure, nor a backend role where someone else owns the product experience. We need an engineer who is comfortable moving across the stack, can make sound technical decisions with limited hand-holding, and documents reusable patterns as they go.\nYou will join a cross-functional product team of engineers, product partners, and ITAM/FinOps stakeholders. The team follows established connector patterns and platform conventions, while continuously improving the reliability, scalability, observability, and developer experience of the product.\nCore skills you’ll bring\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including delivery in a consulting, client-facing, or contract environment.\n\nStrong, recent hands-on experience building production web applications with React and TypeScript.\n\nProduction backend experience with Go, including at least one year of commercial Go development.\n\nProduction experience with Python, particularly for API integrations, data collection, or backend services.\n\nProven experience integrating third-party REST APIs, including OAuth/API-key authentication, pagination, rate limiting, retries, idempotency, error handling, and partial-failure scenarios.\n\nStrong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and service-to-service integration patterns.\n\nSolid SQL and data-modelling experience, including practical work with an ORM such as SQLAlchemy, Django ORM, Hibernate, or equivalent.\n\nWorking knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, and modern code-review and testing practices.\n\nExperience working in Agile teams using Jira and Confluence as part of the normal development workflow.\n\nConfidence using AI-assisted engineering tools while critically reviewing, testing, and validating generated code.\n\nStrong written and spoken communication skills, a pragmatic problem-solving mindset, and the ability to ramp up quickly in a complex product environment.\n\nNice-to-have\nFinOps, cloud cost management, cloud billing, usage analytics, or familiarity with the FOCUS standard.\n\nIT Asset Management or software-licensing domain knowledge; experience with FlexNet Manager Suite is a plus.\n\nExperience with AWS Cost and Usage Report, Azure Cost Management, GCP billing exports, or comparable cloud billing APIs.\n\nFamiliarity with LLM provider APIs, usage or analytics endpoints, and token- or credit-based billing models.\n\nExperience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Databricks, event-driven architectures, or messaging platforms.\n\nStrong AWS experience, including deploying and supporting production applications.\n\nExperience with Kubernetes Jobs, ArgoCD, Helm, GitOps practices, or feature-flag platforms such as Split.io.\n\nExperience with n8n or similar workflow-automation tools, together with sound judgement about when an automation should become a supported service.\n\nHands-on experience with observability, monitoring, distributed tracing, and production reliability practices.\n\nExperience building internal developer tooling, agent skills, MCP servers, or reusable AI-enabled engineering workflows.\n\nPrevious experience in a SaaS product organisation.\n\nThe impact you'll create\nBuild polished, accessible, and well-tested React/TypeScript interfaces for cost and usage dashboards, connector configuration, and platform administration.\n\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable Go-based microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.\n\nBuild and evolve Python connectors and collectors for AWS, Azure, GCP, LLM providers, and SaaS vendors.\n\nExtend the established connector pipeline across credential management, execution, normalisation, persistence, and presentation rather than introducing one-off integration approaches.\n\nEnsure every new integration follows consistent product patterns, from connector tile through creation and edit flows.\n\nNormalise vendor cost and usage data to the FOCUS standard, including AI token- and credit-based billing data.\n\nModel and persist data using SQL, Python ORMs, and Databricks where appropriate.\n\nImprove platform observability, reliability, performance, scalability, and security.\n\nDeploy and support services in AWS; work with Azure and GCP as integration targets and data sources.\n\nUse Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, ArgoCD, and feature flags to ship changes safely and reliably.\n\nUse AI coding tools as part of daily delivery, while treating prompts, skills, and internal documentation as reviewable engineering artefacts.\n\nTurn repeatable work into reusable skills, agents, and documented playbooks that improve the whole team’s effectiveness.\n\n What supports your journey\nPeople are at the core of Avenga.
