In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end accounting operations across fixed\nassets, capitalized software month-end close reporting, and SOX compliance.\nThe ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at tight close deadlines,\ncollaborates effectively with site managers and corporate reporting teams, and is able to travel\napproximately one week per month.\nKey Responsibilities:\nFixed Assets & Construction in Progress (CIP)\nOversee corporate and site fixed asset accounting, ensuring timely recording of\nadditions, transfers, and disposals.\nCoordinate monthly with site managers and operational leaders regarding asset activity,\nphysical tagging, and system updates in Sage.\nPerform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for fixed asset accounts and review AP\ninvoices to validate capitalization criteria.\nMaintain compliance with corporate Fixed Asset policies\nSoftware Capitalization\nManage the monthly Software in Progress (SIP) calculation and prepare Day 1 journal\nentries.\nTrack software development milestones, identifying completed projects ready for\ncapitalization and amortization under SOP 98-1.\nReconcile SIP/SOP project balances against Authorization for Expenditure (AFE)\ntrackers.\nCoordinate asset setup in ERP systems (Sage) upon project completion.\nMonth-End Close & Corporate Reporting\nExecute core month-end close procedures under a structured schedule:\nPrepare and post closing journal entries\nComplete and upload statistical files and corporate schedules\nGenerate and distribute the monthly Trial Balance\nPrepare comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations\nManage quarterly reporting deliverables, including Property, Plant & Equipment (PPE)\nroll-forward\nAddress Corporate Financial Reporting inquiries regarding deferred charges and other\nbalances\nManage lease accounting adjustments\nInternal Controls, SOX & Audit Support\nExecute key internal controls, including Information Produced by the Entity (IPE) testing\non key reports (e.g., Prophix) during the monthly close\nServe as a key point of contact for internal and external audit requests, delivering PBC\n(Prepared by Client) schedules and documentation\nPartner cross-functionally with outsourced service providers, Accounts Payable, and\nFP&A to resolve reconciling items\n Required Qualifications\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.\nExperience: 1-2 years of progressive general ledger and general accounting\nexperience in a mid-to-large corporate environment.\nTechnical Knowledge:\nStrong working knowledge of US GAAP (specifically Fixed Assets, ASC 360, and\nSoftware Capitalization / ASC 350-40).\nExperience with SOX 404 compliance\nSystems & Software:\nExperience with mid-to-tier-1 ERP systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, or Oracle).\nFamiliarity with financial consolidation systems (e.g., Oracle HFM / FCCS) and\nreporting tools (e.g., Prophix).\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP,\npivot tables, SUMIFS).\nKey Competencies\nTime Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-day close calendars and hit\nstrict reporting deadlines.\nCollaboration & Communication: Skilled at working with non-financial site managers\nand external service teams.\nProblem Solving: High level of ownership in researching variances, resolving AP/GL\ndiscrepancies, and streamlining processes.\n As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment, Avery Dennison requires all final candidates to successfully complete a comprehensive background check and a drug screening.
