Avery Dennison is an American materials science company whose predecessor invented the self-adhesive label in 1935, and it remains the largest supplier of pressure-sensitive label materials in the world. Its more interesting recent business is intelligent labels: radio frequency identification tags applied to individual items of clothing, food and medical supplies, which let a retailer or hospital know what it actually has rather than what its records claim. Headquartered in Mentor, Ohio and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it supplies materials to converters and printers rather than selling finished labels to end users.

Serving industries worldwide - including home and personal care, apparel, general retail, e-commerce, logistics, food and grocery, pharmaceuticals and automotive - we employ approximately 35,000 employees in more than 50 countries.
