Acting as a technical consultant to the sales team, you will produce functional system designs, block diagrams and equipment lists that support the development of customer proposals.\nThe Design Engineer transforms customer requirements into actionable solutions through system design, technical documentation and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with Account Managers and customers, you will identify requirements, assess risks and develop effective AV solutions that meet client objectives.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nTranslate customer requirements into functional system designs\nDevelop engineering and architectural drawings (RCP/Floor Plans), calculations and acoustic models\nReview pre-construction designs and technical documentation\nAssist with technical design, pricing and identification of project risks\nGenerate functional system descriptions, schematics and block diagrams\nIdentify cabling, connectivity and material requirements\nDesign wall plates and user interface layouts\nProduce material and labour estimates for projects\nProvide engineering support to project delivery teams when required\nObtain project sign-off and technical approvals as needed\nAct as a technical point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders\nEvaluate new technologies and vendor solutions\nSupport post-sales technical consultation activities\nTravel to customer and project sites as required\nYou\nAt AVI-SPL, we are committed to helping our employees achieve their full potential. To support the continued growth of our Zurich team, we are seeking a customer-focused and technically proficient Design Engineer who enjoys working on a broad range of AV and workplace technology projects.Key Skills and Experience:\nExperience designing AV, UC, digital signage and smart workplace solutions\nStrong understanding of technologies such as Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron or similar platforms\nExperience producing technical drawings using AutoCAD, Visio or similar design tools\nAbility to communicate effectively with customers, consultants and colleagues\nStrong business and technical writing skills\nAbility to identify and resolve complex system design challenges\nStrong computer and technical documentation skills\nAbility to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines\nValid driver's licence and willingness to travel as required\nEducation and/or Experience\nTechnical qualification, apprenticeship, diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, AV Technology or a related field preferred\nCTS or CTS-D certification would be advantageous\nA minimum of three years' experience in the AV industry, ideally within a design or engineering capacity\nProfessional proficiency in English is essential.
