We believe that success starts with a sound team and that an inclusive and diverse workplace moves us all forward.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nThe Production Technician is responsible for the technical operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of event production facilities, control rooms, and broadcast systems for an established client. This person requires a strong curiosity to learn the production environment and offers suggestions for improvement.\nThis role is responsible for:\nOverseeing the technical health, operational readiness, and support of event and broadcast production systems across multiple production environments. \nAssist with troubleshooting, repair coordination, and escalation management for production technologies and infrastructure. \nSupporting the execution of onsite, hybrid, virtual, and broadcast-style events.\nPartnering with client event teams and the production team to define and implement technical production strategies. \nDay-To-Day Responsibilities:\nTechnical Skills\n\nSupport the technical operational needs for production environments by assisting with high-quality video, audio, streaming, webcasting and presentation experiences for live, virtual, and hybrid events. \nProvide the day-to-day technical support and operational readiness of control rooms, event spaces, and production technologies. \nDiagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and coordinate resolution of hardware, software, signal flow, networking, and streaming issues within the production environment. \nCoordinate with the help desk, internal engineering teams, vendors, and manufacturers to facilitate repairs, firmware updates, maintenance activities, and equipment replacements as required. \nMaintain operational checklists, and technical readiness standards for all supported facilities and systems. \nEnsure all production systems, control room technologies, and event spaces remain operationally ready and compliant with defined standards. \nWork with the team to document technical procedures, troubleshooting workflows, system configurations, and best practices to ensure consistency. \nTrack technical incidents, recurring equipment issues, maintenance activities, and operational trends while recommending continuous improvement initiatives. \nProvide consultation regarding production workflows, system architecture, signal routing, and event technology strategies. \nParticipate in post-event reviews and technical postmortems to identify root causes, operational risks, and opportunities for optimization.\nSupport evaluation of new technologies, systems, and production solutions.\nTechnical Events \nSupport the setup, configuration, testing, and operation of production systems and control room equipment for live events and broadcasts. \nConfigure and support signal routing, streaming workflows, switching, encoding systems, audio/video transport, and remote contribution technologies. \nSupport remote acquisition and contribution technologies for remote presenters, hybrid productions, and distributed events. \nEnsure successful integration between broadcast systems, enterprise collaboration platforms, and network infrastructure. \nPerform technical quality checks for audio, video, streaming, recording, and network performance prior to and during live productions. \nProvide live troubleshooting support during events to quickly identify and resolve technical issues with minimal operational disruption. \nSupport redundancy, backup, and failover strategies for critical production systems and live broadcasts. \nTeam and Operational Collaboration\nCollaborate with the production manager to align technical requirements with event objectives. \nParticipate in operational meetings to ensure alignment of workflows and production readiness. \nAssist with developing scalable technical standards.\nItems to Consider:\nAVI-SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.\nThis position will generally work on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.\nWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nMust-Haves:\nMinimum 4 years of experience in event production, broadcast engineering, audio/visual support, video production, live streaming, or related technical environments. \n3+ years of experience supporting onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events. \nStrong experience in production systems support. \nHands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting control room technologies including: \nStrong understanding of audio/video signal flow within digital broadcast and live production environments. \nExperience with LAN/WAN networking, managed switches, VLANs, QoS, and network-based production systems. \nStrong understanding of IP-based media workflows and transport of audio/video over managed networks in live production environments. \nAbility to assist with troubleshooting network-related production issues including latency, packet loss, bandwidth constraints, and multicast/unicast distribution in time-sensitive event settings. \nExperience troubleshooting both traditional broadcast equipment and IT-based production infrastructure. \nExperience with production switchers and systems including Ross, Blackmagic, TriCaster, vMix, or equivalent platforms. \nExperience with audio systems including Yamaha consoles, Dante audio networks, and Shure systems. \nFamiliarity with enterprise collaboration and virtual event platforms including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and similar technologies. \nAbility to work independently and manage technical priorities in fast-paced, high-pressure production environments. \nStrong analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify root causes and implement solutions. \nExcellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong customer service mindset and white glove support approach. \nStrong organizational skills with attention to detail, documentation, and operational consistency. \nConsistent proactive preparation and timely communication with the production manager.\nAbility to analyze technical metrics, identify operational trends, and recommend process or system improvements. \nMust have clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally\nProficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)\nEffective communication and interaction with employees, clients, and colleagues and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization\nDemonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills\nMinimum high school diploma or equivalent\nNice-To-Haves:\nBachelor’s degree in broadcast engineering, video production, communications technology, or related field. \nExperience with streaming and encoding systems. \nFamiliarity with production networking, and remote management technologies. \nFamiliarity with post-production and editing software including Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. \nKnowledge of redundancy, failover, monitoring, and enterprise broadcast infrastructure design. \nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nFrequent standing, walking, and physical activity.\nRegular bending, kneeling, and reaching.\nClimbing, overhead work, and working at heights.\nUse of tools and equipment as required.\nFrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.\nHeavier lifting may require assistance or mechanical support.\nWarehouse, field, or construction environments.\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.\nWHY YOU’LL LIKE WORKING HERE\n\nMedical benefits, including vision and dental\nPaid holidays and PTO\nEnjoyable and dynamic company culture\nTraining and professional development opportunities\nMORE ABOUT US\nAVI-SPL is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
