This engineering role will provide additional details about how a design approach will be built and configured to uphold the vision of the XTG pre-sales team and our growing network of creative partners.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nXTG Senior Design Engineers transforms customer needs into actionable solutions through system design and detailed documentation. You will work closely with sales team members, including Account Managers, to understand client requirements, identify potential risks and communicate with stakeholders.\nThe Senior Design Engineer is a highly skilled technical leader responsible for driving the successful creation of complex Enterprise Broadcast system designs. In this role, you will leverage deep expertise and specialized knowledge to tackle the most challenging design projects, ensuring solutions are innovative, feasible, and aligned with customer needs and business goals.\nAs a Senior Design Engineer, you will act as a mentor and technical guide, providing oversight and support to junior and mid-level engineers. You will work independently on the most complex designs, take ownership of design accuracy, and provide critical input to project stakeholders. This role requires a proactive problem solver who adeptly balances customer expectations with technical and business requirements, all while shaping and improving design standards and processes across the team.\nDay-To-Day Responsibilities:\nPre-Sales Design and Proposal Efforts\n Leverage in-depth knowledge of the enterprise broadcast industry and business practices to support Account Managers in strategically selling large projects. \n Demonstrate technical and industry expertise, address complex customer challenges, and inspire confidence in the company’s ability to deliver solutions.\nProvide accurate labor estimates and material requirements to support sales proposal creation.\nDevelop and maintain comprehensive design standards packages for large and repeat customers accounts.\nDesign Responsibilities\nDevelop detailed system documentation, including a bill of materials, conceptual block diagrams, infrastructure plans, scopes of work to ensure quality and completeness.\nDetermine infrastructure requirements, such as power, data, and conduit, during pre-sales efforts and coordinate with general contractors.\nIdentify, account for, and communicate about project risks, site conditions, scheduling requirements, and dependencies in the design.\nReview pre-construction documentation to ensure clarity and alignment with project objectives.\nCoordinate with vendors, architects, consultants and contractors to align designs with project constraints during design development.\nReview and validate designs from junior Engineers and guide on adherence to best practices.\nProject Responsibilities\nSupport project teams during implementation and provide technical input as the “design authority” as needed.\nSupport of meetings outside of local time zones is required (approximately 20 times per year)\nTravel to various job sites both domestic and internationally as needed.\n Provide weekly project updates to XTG Engineering Manager.\nMentorship, Leadership and Collaboration\nReview and provide constructive feedback on designs from junior and mid-level engineers to ensure quality and consistency.\nShare knowledge and best practices to support the development of the engineering team’s skills and processes. \nPerform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.\nWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nMust-Haves:\nCore Competencies and Skills\nStrong business acumen and understanding of broadcast and the audio-visual industry, including trends, standards, and customer expectations.\nLeadership capabilities, including mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.\nAdvanced problem-solving skills and the ability to independently address risks effectively.\nEffective Stakeholder Communication: Experience conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including clients, project managers, and field teams.\nDetail-Oriented: knows the difference between “good enough” and “perfect” and strives for accuracy in work.\nSelf-directed learning habits to stay current with emerging broadcast and AV technologies, industry standards, and best practices through ongoing education or certifications.\nTechnical Expertise and Knowledge\nProficiency in design and configuration of broadcast and AV systems flow, from acquisition to transmission, including software tools and standards. This includes knowledge of various broadcast signal formats (HD/UHD, analog, digital), cameras, routers, switchers, and signal processing devices.\nComprehensive understanding of IP networking, including AVoIP, TCP/IP, multicast, VLANs, and Quality of Service (QoS) and network architecture. \nExperience with SMPTE 2110, AES67, and other Audio/Video over IP (NDI and AVoIP) standards.\nExperience with broadcast automation systems and Media Asset Management (MAM) software. This includes understanding how content is ingested, stored, and played out for on-air or digital distribution.\nFamiliarity with AV/IT industry standards such as AVIXA, ANSI/TIA.\nProficiency with tools such as CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu).\nFull understanding of common infrastructure requirements, including power, data, and conduit, and how they integrate into broadcast and AV systems.\nRelevant audio/DSP certifications (Yamaha, Calrec, AVID, Biamp, Q-SYS, BSS, Extron, Shure, etc.).\nAVIXIA CTS-D Certification.\nAVIXA ANP (Audio-Visual Network Professional) Certification (Cisco CCNA or similar may be considered in lieu of ANP).\nValid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record meeting company standards.\nMinimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.\nNice-To-Haves:\nFormal education in Electronics, Engineering, or a related field preferred.\nSeven (7) years of experience in broadcast and audiovisual system design or integration.\nDirect end user experience of Enterprise Broadcast and VC solutions (Ross Video, Grass Valley, Sony, Panasonic, Evertz, LAWO, Telestream, Cobalt, VIZRT)-both hardware and software.\nExperience with large-scale or enterprise-level broadcast and AV projects, including coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.\nProven track record of contributing to process improvements, developing design standards, or leading initiatives in design workflows.\nWHY YOU’LL LIKE WORKING HERE\nMedical benefits, including vision and dental\nPaid holidays and PTO\nEnjoyable and dynamic company culture\nTraining and professional development opportunities\nMORE ABOUT US\nAVI-SPL is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
