We believe that success starts with a sound team and that an inclusive and diverse workplace moves us all forward.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nAs the Senior Payroll Specialist, you’ll be responsible for monitoring and confirming our systems and processes are set up to ensure payroll compliance with state, federal, local payroll rules, and tax regulations. This role will make certain any changes in payroll tax laws are implemented across all lines of business. This position will conduct weekly and quarterly audits of current payroll set-ups to certify compliance and put together a project plan to address any needed changes. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Specialist will work closely with other members of the accounting team, third party payroll processors, and other groups across the organization.\nDay-To-Day Responsibilities:\nManage inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll\nAssist in processing multistate payroll transactions including salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions\nPrepare reports and forecasts for senior management\nAssist with annual merits, increases, special, and retroactive calculations\nEnsure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates\nAssist with payroll integrations with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness\nCoordinate company payroll tax information with the third-party payroll administrator (UKG) and confirm accuracy and timeliness of filings\nPrepares and files a variety of local, state and federal forms including, but not limited to: monthly, quarterly and year end filings; responds to outside agency requests for production\nResearches, analyzes, and resolves difficult or advanced technical problems or questions presented by managers, co-workers, and/or outside agency representatives\nResearches and interprets a variety of complex technical information in response to inquiries\nKeep up with maintenance of employee records\nVerify compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices, and stay current on changes\nRecommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations; assists coordinate approved changes within payroll processing system; updates affected policy/procedure manuals\nCoordinates and interacts with federal and state agencies on specialized issues pertaining to employee compensation and deductions\nFacilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors\nAddress employee and partner payroll-related inquiries and ensure a high level of internal customer service\nSupport weekly and bi-weekly payroll processes for sales, union, prevailing wage, and certified payroll requirements\nConduct multi-state payroll tax research related to compliance as needed and perform periodic audits on internal controls\nInitiates payroll processing quality assurance reviews; identifies training issues and/or problem prone processes to ensure optimal efficiency and error-free operations.\nWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nMust-Haves:\nSolid understanding of accounting fundamentals, payroll best practices, and US payroll tax\nStrong analytical and mathematical skills, and be organized, thorough, methodical, and able to use critical thinking skills when solving problems\nMust have clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally and be able to write logical, comprehensive, concise reports and correspondence\nEffective communication and interaction with employees, clients, and colleagues and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization\nSkill in evaluating and analyzing technical payroll activities\nSkill in preparing detailed reports and performing detailed computations\nDemonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills\nExceptional organizational skills and excellent attention to detail\nEnergized self-starter capable of working and thinking independently and ensuring to meet deadlines\nExcellent capability to switch tasks while adapting to changing priorities\nAbility to maintain integrity and confidentiality with sensitive information\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required\nProficient with payroll software, UKG Pro\nPower BI Reporting experience\nAdvanced Excel skills required\nNice-To-Haves:\nMinimum of 4 years’ experience in payroll processing\nPrevailing wage experience preferred\nWHY YOU’LL LIKE WORKING HERE\nMedical benefits, including vision and dental\nPaid holidays, sick days, and personal days\nEnjoyable and dynamic company culture\nTraining and professional development opportunities\nMORE ABOUT US\nAVI-SPL is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
