We believe that success starts with a sound team and that an inclusive and diverse workplace moves us all forward.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nThe Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of AV projects, ensuring accurate assessment of completed work, effective change control, and maximised financial performance across a portfolio of installations. Support project teams through contract reviews, cost management, and risk assessment to ensure profitable, and on-time delivery.\nWorking closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and operational stakeholders, the Quantity Surveyor will support the successful commercial delivery of AV projects, ensuring effective change management, contractual compliance, accurate forecasting, timely invoicing, and successful agreement of final accounts.\nDay-To-Day Responsibilities:\nConduct contract reviews upon project award, ensuring the project team understands the commercial and contractual requirements of the agreement\nReview and interpret FIDIC, JCT, and bespoke client contracts, ensuring compliance throughout project delivery\nReview procurement and subcontractor packages, securing the best commercial terms and assessing subcontractor payments\nAssess, value, and authorise subcontractor payments based on completed work and contractual terms.\nMeasure and assess the value of work completed on-site, ensuring all AV installations, equipment deliveries, and commissioning milestones are accounted for.\nPrepare and submit valuations, progress applications, and invoices in line with the project contract terms.\nProduce accurate monthly cost reports and financial forecasts, tracking performance against project budgets.\nDevelop and maintain project cash flow forecasts to support financial planning.\nIdentify, notify, and track changes, variations, and compensation events as soon as they arise, in accordance with contract requirements.\nPrepare estimates and quotations for additional works, ensuring maximum commercial return.\nAssess and negotiate the value of changes to maintain profitability.\nMaintain accurate cost records in collaboration with the Project Manager and Site Manager.\nManage and oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of the project, acting as the main point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.\nSupport the project accounting team with monthly performance and financial reporting.\nAssist in negotiating and agreeing final accounts to ensure maximum value retention upon project completion.\nConduct regular site visits to ensure completed work is accurately measured and any new opportunities are identified.\nBuild and maintain professional relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.\nProvide commercial insights to senior leadership, advising on potential improvements, strategies, and risk mitigation.\nPerform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organisation, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.\nWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nMust-Haves:\nProfessional experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.\nWorking knowledge of industry-standard contracts, including the New Engineering Contract (NEC), Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT), International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and Bespoke AV contracts.\nExperience managing budgets, cost reports, and forecasting for technical projects.\nAbility to analyse, measure, and value work completed in line with contract terms.\nSkilled in negotiating with clients and subcontractors to maximise commercial outcomes.\nExcellent numerical, negotiation, and analytical abilities.\nStrong communicator, able to collaborate with project teams, clients, and suppliers.\nSelf-motivated, organised, and able to work under pressure.\nProficient in Office 365 applications.\nExperience with project scheduling software\nNice-To-Haves:\nExperience with project document control repositories (e.g., Aconex) is a plus\nExperience with project management and commercial systems is desirable\nExperience working within AV, construction, technology integration, or a related project-based industry\nRICS chartered Quantity Surveyor.\n5+ years post chartership experience with multiple standard construction forms (JCT, FIDIC, NEC, ICC, RIAI etc.), ideally in different industries and countries but not required.\nExperience managing and resolving complex payment, valuation, variation and final account disputes, including negotiation, mediation and support of adjudication, arbitration or litigation proceedings; and\nAn additional European language preferred.\nWhy work for AVI-SPL (what’s in it for you)\nAs we have already mentioned, AVI-SPL are the global leaders when it comes to universal communications, and we make sure our work environment matches our status.
