For more information, visit aviatrix.ai. \nABOUT THE ROLE:\nWe are searching for a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the Aviatrix Engineering Productivity (EngProd) Integration Playground team. In this role, you will own the design, build-out, and ongoing evolution of the Platform and Hybrid Scale Integration Playground - a critical environment that enables early-stage validation, scale testing, and infrastructure experimentation across the engineering organization.\nThis is a high-impact, infrastructure-forward role at the intersection of platform engineering and test infrastructure. You will drive the development of scale testing capabilities that don't yet exist and establish shared playground infrastructure that the broader engineering organization depends on. You will work closely with scale automation leads and domain experts across Networking, Platform, and the Engineering Release & Test (ERT) team, and will mentor junior engineers on the team.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nOwn the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the Platform and Hybrid Scale Integration Playground - including infra provisioning, test tooling, and environment lifecycle management\nBuild and scale hybrid scale test infrastructure to support large-scale simulation environments with thousands of simulated gateways\nDevelop benchmark test suites for operations known to cause problems at scale, ensuring regressions are detected early in the release cycle\nDesign and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure for scale and platform playground environments, ensuring reliability and reproducibility across releases\nIdentify gaps in test coverage for scale and platform features and drive improvements through new tooling or enhanced test strategies\nPartner with cross-functional teams - including Networking, Platform, Security, and ERT - to understand domain requirements and translate them into playground infrastructure and test designs\nMentor engineers on the team; serve as a technical resource and set standards for test design, infrastructure quality, and best practices\nLead test design and planning for platform and hybrid scale features, managing timelines and driving execution to completion\nParticipate in code reviews, on-call rotations, and interview processes\nREQUIREMENTS\n6+ years of experience in software development or test engineering, with strong emphasis on infrastructure, scale testing, or platform engineering\nBachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field\nStrong coding skills in Python and/or Golang\nDeep understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, including networking, gateway architectures, VPCs, and CSP account structures (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)\nHands-on experience designing and managing test environments at scale using cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code\nProficiency with Terraform for building and maintaining regression and scale test infrastructure\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes\nProven ability to work independently and drive projects from design through delivery with minimal supervision\nProficient in leveraging AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM-based assistants) to improve test generation, infrastructure automation, and engineering productivity\nPREFERRED\nExperience building large-scale simulation or emulation environments (e.g., fake/simulated gateway fleets, network topology emulation)\nFamiliarity with benchmark testing methodology - designing repeatable benchmarks, establishing baselines, and detecting regressions in processing time or memory usage\nExperience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog for environment health and test result visualization\nPrior work on hybrid or multi-cloud infrastructure environments\nExperience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership on infrastructure projects\nWhat We're Looking For in You\nA systems thinker who can design infrastructure that doesn't yet exist and drive it to production\nSomeone with a scale-first mindset - you understand how systems behave under load and know how to build environments that expose those behaviors reliably\nA technical leader who can influence platform and test strategy, mentor others, and drive cross-team alignment without needing formal authority\nA builder who takes full ownership - from problem definition through design, implementation, and ongoing operations\nA strong collaborator who can translate complex domain requirements from networking and platform engineers into robust playground infrastructure and benchmark tooling\nWhy Join Us?\nBy joining the Aviatrix Test Infrastructure team, you will have the opportunity to shape the testing and quality infrastructure that powers one of the leading cloud networking platforms in the industry.
