You will partner with business, product, engineering, and architecture teams to turn strategic goals into practical technology solutions that support Aviva’s modernization priorities and long-term digital strategy.\nThis role supports customer-facing and broker-facing digital channels, including web, mobile, and AI-enabled experiences.\nWhat you'll do\nSolution Architecture and Delivery\nUnderstand business goals and translate them into clear digital product architecture and technology roadmaps.\n\nDefine frontend and digital solution architectures that are scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable.\n\nSupport modernization initiatives that reduce technical debt, close architecture gaps, and enable new digital capabilities.\n\nWork with product and delivery teams to refine backlogs, assess feasibility, and guide implementation decisions.\n\nCommunicate architecture decisions, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nIdentify delivery and architecture risks, recommend practical mitigations, and support continuous improvement after implementation.\n\nTechnical Leadership\nStay current with digital, web, mobile, cloud, and AI-enabled technologies, platforms, and tools.\n\nApply architecture standards and review practices to support quality, security, and compliance.\n\nCreate and review design artifacts that support engineering, security, service, and delivery needs.\n\nMentor and coach team members, encouraging collaboration, technical growth, and consistent design practices.\n\nArchitecture Community\nContribute to Aviva’s architecture community by sharing knowledge and improving design practices.\n\nBuild your technical expertise and help evaluate emerging technology trends that could benefit Aviva and its customers.\n\nProblem Solving and Change Leadership\nUse technical expertise to solve complex design and delivery challenges.\n\nRecommend practical solutions that align with architecture principles, standards, and delivery needs.\n\nAdapt to changing priorities and influence design decisions as business needs evolve.\n\nCollaboration and External Engagement\nBuild strong relationships with product managers, engineers, platform specialists, architects, and delivery partners.\n\nEngage with suppliers and technology partners to stay informed on relevant trends, capabilities, and market developments.\n\nWhat you'll bring\nDigital, Web, and Frontend Technologies\nStrong experience with digital application and web architecture.\n\nFrontend frameworks such as React and Angular.\n\nMobile frameworks such as React Native.\n\nUX research and design tools such as Figma.\n\nWeb asset management platforms such as Adobe.\n\nDigital data and analytics platforms, including Google and Adobe solutions.\n\nWeb application security, CDN/edge technologies, and performance optimization.\n\nExperience integrating AI services into digital products.\n\nWeb application observability and end-user monitoring.\n\nAdditional Experience That Would Be an Asset\nInsurance industry experience, including Guidewire.\n\nAPI and event technologies such as REST, GraphQL, Pub/Sub, and WebSockets.\n\nBackend frameworks, preferably Java and Node.js.\n\nModern application architecture, including domain focussed design, microservices, and micro apps.\n\nCloud computing and modern software development practices.\n\nContainerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes.\n\nPublic cloud certification, preferably AWS.\n\nProject and Technical Leadership\nStrong understanding of end-to-end project delivery, including Agile delivery methods.\n\nBroad technical knowledge with the ability to apply solutions across different customer and business scenarios.\n\nA practical innovation approach committed to customer and business value.\n\nFinancial awareness to support strategic recommendations and architecture decisions.\n\nAbility to balance long-term strategy with near-term delivery priorities.\n\nCommunication and Leadership Skills\nClear communication skills with the ability to guide technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain key business relationships.\n\nLeadership presence, personal impact, and the ability to influence outcomes.\n\nWhat you’ll get\nThe salary band for this position ranges from $140,000 to $190,000.
