This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-moving, product-led technology team-backed by the scale and resources of Canada’s second largest insurer, and powering partnerships with RBC and President’s Choice Financial.\nWhat you'll do\nDevelopment:\nDesign, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services applications with a focus on high availability, optimal performance, and security.\nDevelop and maintain scalable Java-based microservices.\nDesign and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and AWS to automate provisioning of cloud resources.\nDevelop secure RESTful APIs to support frontend applications and external integrations.\nSystem Design:\nReview and create system, software, and functional design specifications.\nIntegrate IaC into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions, enabling automated deployments and environment consistency.\nCollaboration:\nLead product development through research, strategic planning, and close collaboration with fellow engineers and product leads.\nActively participate in code reviews and provide feedback on code quality, unit testing and security standards.\nProvide mentorship to engineers and foster best practices within the team to help improve our development cycle.\nCollaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.\nWhat you'll bring\nUniversity degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science\n5+ years professional experience in backend development with at least 2 years in a senior position.\nExcellent knowledge of Java and Spring Boot\nStrong experience in building REST API and web services\nStrong experience with system integration and system design \nProficiency with database systems such as Oracle and MongoDB\nEmbrace Agile methodology\nAbility to foundationally understand complex business process driving technical systems\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders\nWhat makes you stand out\nExperience developing and deploying enterprise applications using Java Spring Boot, Angular, AWS / Terraform, RDBMS: Oracle/PostgreSQL, and document database technologies including MongoDB and Document DB.\nInsurance industry experience will be a plus\nWhat you’ll get\nThe salary band for this position ranges from $115,000 to $165,000.
