Working closely with the Underwriting Manager, Functional Line Underwriters, brokers, and regional business partners, you will underwrite and manage complex professional liability risks, identify growth opportunities, and support business objectives related to profitability, retention, and service delivery. Success in this role requires robust technical underwriting expertise, sound judgment, relationship management skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client and broker experiences.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nWhat will your essential responsibilities include?\nUnderwriting both new and renewal business within assigned territory. Assisting in achieving profitable premium and rate goals, working with actuarial and claims and successfully delivering results consistent with financial plan.\nDeveloping, maintaining, and servicing broker relationships within the distribution model. Coordinate with brokers to determine their marketing and education needs supported by AXAXL Design Professional Platform.\nWorking with the Underwriting Manager within the assigned zone in furthering the AXAXL Design Professional Platform and achieving business’ financial plan.\nInteracting directly with insureds, brokers and producers to service accounts.\nWorking collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, and management team. Training newer staff members, acting as a mentor.\nDeveloping technical knowledge of design professional risk management to act as a resource on our product including ability to deliver educational programs, contract reviews, assist with policy coverage evaluations.\nEnsuring high quality service standards and compliance with all internal audit guidelines.\nActing as a representative of the company and our agents by attending internal/external company functions, agent sponsored and industry events.\nMeet with brokers and set annual targets, issue monthly status reports, monitor P&L against plan.\nTake initiative and proactively support brokers and market interactions which support growth. Some examples include coordinating insured events, inclusion of claims, LPED, marketing, conducting regional broker meetings, targeting interaction(s) with ACEC, AIA.\nMeet with customers and prospects to develop relationships, deliver risk management education and to support business targets.\nYou will report to West Zone Underwriting Manager.\nWhat you will BRING\nWe’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:\nRequired Skills and Abilities:\nBachelor’s Degree required.\nModerate commercial insurance experience (e.g., underwriting, claims, or insurance risk management or insurance related business development experience).\nRobust analytical, risk assessment, and relationship management skills, with the ability to evaluate complex exposures and make sound underwriting decisions\nDemonstrated ability to build and maintain outstanding insured and broker contacts.\nAbility to travel up to 20%\nDesired Skills and Abilities:\nProfessional insurance designations, advanced degrees, or industry-related credentials are preferred, including but not limited to: RPLU, CPCU, CRIS, IIA, LLB, JD, BSc, or BEng.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills.
