We have a vast and ever-evolving portfolio of brands primed to play an important part in everything from modernizing infrastructure around the world to enabling the next generation of electric and autonomous vehicles.\nWe are currently looking for aLaboratory Technician to join us at our facility in Philadelphia, PA.\nWith minimal guidance from supervision and within established procedures, the individual will conduct routine as well as complex research laboratory activities in support of the Axalta Global Innovation Center. The incumbent will provide support to the Scientists in the research and development process. Research may include assistance with information/data management activities and analysis of results.\nKey responsibilities:\n Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data\nPreparation and evaluation of coating formulations including, primer, topcoat and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment\nAccurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations\nTroubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory; collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur\nDocument findings and communicating results\nMake suggestions on path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow\nInspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location\nMaintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments at work location\nMaintain a safe working environment\nInterpret and communicate test results using computer-based systems\nDocument experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel\nSafely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis\nHandle multiple tasks under strict time constraints\nTrain other R&D technicians on specific tasks once qualified.\nTravel as needed to an internal/external customer location for meetings, training, and product support activities.\nMinimum requirements:\n A 2-year degree from a college or technical school with at least three years of experience in an industrial laboratory environment, or a 4-year degree in a physical or life science with some level of chemistry or chemical lab experience.\nGood interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in both self-managed and team environment\nAble to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines\nComfortable with safely working with hazardous materials\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals\nPreferred skills:\n Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills\nPossess excellent verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence\nPossess strong computer skills and ability to interpret data and trends\nFlexibility to travel as needed in support of customer and product-technical support.\nAxalta operates its business in two segments: Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings, which serve four end markets, including Refinish, Industrial, Light Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle, across North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
