Our continued success is driven by our commitment to safety, reliability, quality, and operational excellence.\nPosition Summary:\nThe Maintenance Manager is a critical site leadership role responsible for leading all maintenance, reliability, and facilities operations at the Mt. Clemens plant. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all plant equipment and utilities, while driving a proactive maintenance culture and continuous improvement initiatives.\nThe Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance technicians, planners, and contractors, and works closely with Engineering, Operations, EH&S, and Quality to support production reliability and long-term site strategy.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLeadership & People Management\nLead, develop, and coach a high-performing maintenance and reliability team\nEstablish clear expectations and drive accountability to safety, reliability, and performance goals\nBuild organizational capability through training, development, and succession planning\nFoster a culture of safety, ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement\nMaintenance & Reliability Excellence\nDevelop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies\nDrive improvements in equipment uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency\nLead troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, and process equipment issues\nImplement reliability initiatives including:Root cause analysis (RCA)\nFailure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)\nReliability-centered maintenance (RCM)\n\nEquipment & Facility Management\nOversee maintenance and performance of key plant systems, including:Mixing, batching, and dispersion equipment\nPumps, piping, and fluid handling systems\nReactor Systems\nUtilities (boilers, compressed air, HVAC, ventilation systems)\n\nEnsure proper maintenance of facility infrastructure and critical systems\nProcess Safety & Regulatory Compliance\nEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements\nSupport and execute key safety processes, including:Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)\nConfined space entry\nHot work permits\nMechanical integrity programs\n\nPartner with EH&S to ensure safe operation in a hazardous chemical environment\nPlanning & Execution\nImplement and manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)\nDevelop and execute planned maintenance schedules and shutdown activities\nManage spare parts strategy and critical equipment inventory\nOptimize maintenance workflows to improve response time and efficiency\nCapital Projects & Continuous Improvement\nSupport and lead maintenance-related capital projects and equipment upgrades\nPartner with Engineering on equipment installation, commissioning, and startup\nDrive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and cost\nIdentify opportunities to improve equipment performance and extend asset life\nFinancial & Budget Management\nManage the maintenance operating and capital budgets\nControl costs while maintaining high levels of equipment reliability\nEvaluate and prioritize investments in maintenance and reliability improvements\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner with:Operations to support production goals and uptime\nEngineering to align on capital and reliability strategy\nQuality to ensure product integrity\nEH&S to maintain safe and compliant operations\n\nServe as a key member of the site leadership team\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)\n7+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or chemical environment\n3+ years of leadership experience managing teams\nStrong knowledge of:\nMechanical and electrical systems\nMaintenance planning and scheduling\nSafety and regulatory requirements\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in coatings, chemical, or process manufacturing environments\nExperience with CMMS systems SAP PM, Maximo, etc.\nLean / Six Sigma certification\nReliability certifications (e.g., CMRP)\nExperience supporting PSM-covered processes\nWork Environment & Expectations:\nManufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and industrial equipment\nAbility to support off-shift, weekend, and emergency response needs\nHands-on leadership role with frequent plant floor engagement\nAxalta operates its business in two segments: Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings, which serve four end markets, including Refinish, Industrial, Light Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle, across North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
