We are currently hiring a Senior RF Electrical Engineer to work out of our corporate office in Beverly, MA.\nResponsibilities\nLead the design, development, and validation of RF systems and subsystems used in semiconductor capital equipment\nPerform RF chain analysis including gain, noise figure, linearity, and stability across system architecture\nDesign and optimize matching networks for power transfer, efficiency, and signal integrity\nDevelop RF PCB layouts, including controlled impedance routing, grounding strategies, and signal isolation\nConduct network measurements and analysis using lab equipment such as vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers\nDesign and characterize RF resonators, filters, and passive components\nDevelop low-noise oscillators and RF signal generation circuits\nPerform system-level integration of RF subsystems with power, control systems, and electromechanical assemblies\nRun simulations using 3D electromagnetic and RF simulation tools to validate designs and reduce risk\nConduct experimental testing, analyze performance data, and drive iterative design improvements\nEnsure adherence to product development processes including: Requirements definition\nSystem architecture\nDesign reviews\nVerification and validation testing\n\nEnsure designs meet applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards\nSelect RF components and materials based on frequency performance, thermal behavior, and reliability\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver manufacturable, high-performance designs\nSupport supplier selection and evaluate vendor capabilities for RF components and assemblies\nProvide technical leadership in RF design best practices, signal integrity, and system optimization\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)\nMinimum 5-10 years of experience in RF and high-frequency hardware design\nStrong experience with: RF system design and analysis\nMatching network design and tuning\nRF PCB layout and stack-up definition\nRF measurement techniques and lab instrumentation\n\nHands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generators)\nSolid understanding of signal integrity, electromagnetic behavior, and noise mitigation\nExperience participating in technical design reviews and structured development processes\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in: Semiconductor capital equipment\nRF power delivery systems or plasma systems\nOscillator and frequency synthesis design\nResonator or filter design\n\nExperience with RF simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, CST, ADS, or similar 3D EM tools)\nPCB design experience using tools such as Altium or PADS\nFamiliarity with Creo Schematic, AutoCAD, or similar tools\nExperience with Windchill or other PLM systems\nExperience working with global or offshore engineering teams\nEQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT\nIt is the policy of Axcelis to provide equal opportunity in all areas of employment for all persons free from discrimination based on race, sex, religion, age, color, national origin, disability status, medical condition (including pregnancy), veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
